This “dividend” sounds a lot like the setup for a UBI. Why not just tax people less and let us keep more of our money from the outset? Spend that “dividend” running what the government actually needs to run. If we keep our money from the outset, the government can’t attach strings.

And no one’s talking about it, but this administration seems to be doing that a lot. Exhibit A: Tennessee’s recent “school choice” decision.
Truly, ask any long time home school mom how she feels about the “school choice” and “voucher” nonsense Trump just helped push through in TN and has *vowed to take national* and she will tell you it’s a bait and switch… what the government funds the government runs. I would rather eat my property tax than get it back with strings attached (ie “mandatory” curriculum filled with SEL and testing requirements that test a child’s ability to parrot, not to learn). We want the government to stay out of our lives, not control more and more of it. As an aside, we’re a retired military family. We really do know what it means to have the government control your paycheck and your pension and it’s not all butterflies and ice cream cones. Y’all, please be cautious about this. 🙏Take the wins, but eyes wide open.
As a “retired” homeschool mom (my kiddos are grown and married) I agree wholeheartedly with your concerns. Keep the government out of our homes. To those who don’t homeschool, it sounds so great - “Oh look, you’ll get money back ! Isn’t that great!” No, it’s not great, it’s a Trojan horse. I wanted my children to be curious, to know that Truth is real, and grow up to be adults who ask questions. That would not be impossible if they were sent to a public institution, but it would’ve been a highly unlikely outcome.
I’d rather not have to pay it than “get it back.” I hate how it’s always framed as “government money” when the government has no money—it’s all from taxpayers.

Very logical, RunningLogic!
I have heard this from several home school families.
