The whole "Right vs Left" paradigm is a false binary or what is usually termed a false dichotomy. People don't perceive this because American education no longer teaches formal logic to young people. Your description illustrates the truth of this.

In general, the Republican Party has not been the political "Right" for a long time and the Democrat Party has been dramatically "Left" since at least the days of Pres Kennedy who, like Trump, tried to stand for the American people and was murdered by the CIA for his efforts. Since RFK, the public face of the Democrat Party has gone full-on Marxist which is straight up totalitarianism. But the real control of the Democrat Party has nothing to do with Marxism except as a means to deceive the American people. Kennedy's assassination was not a communist conspiracy. President Kennedy was killed by the NeoCons who represent the military/industrial complex and they have been in control of the Democrat Party ever since. We indefinitively refer to this NeoCon control as the "deep state".
In like manner, the NeoCons also took control of the Republican Party and the old conservative guard of the Republican Party has long since disappeared. They should have changed their name to the RINO Party. This should bring into focus the truth that the American political system is, in realty, a Uniparty which is the true source of the totalitarianism we now suffer under. The Trump revolution in the Republican party represents a push back to this NeoCon control and that is the reason they have tried to kill him.
My point is that the Right vs Left paradigm is disingenuous and a deception. It is not an accurate model of American politics. Whatever the Trump revolution becomes, the only question that matters to us is, as Jeff said, "those that put America and its citizens first versus those that don't."
Thank you Jeff! Well said.
