There's been a lot of good comments recently pointing out how much US foreign policy is heavily influenced by Protestant Dispensationalist theology and it's interpretation of end times prophecy regarding Israel. Certainly it drives war mongers like Pence and Pompeo.
As a pre-trib rapture evangelical myself I know I was sucked into the "Israel right or wrong" mindset from shallow beliefs regarding the end times. It really was a shock to realize many historical heroes of the faith didn't interpret these passages this way. And certainly we don't know for sure that this version of Israel is the one referenced in these passages.
It's worth digging into more for people who reflexively support Israel out of some sort of religious belief. One thing I'm certain of is that our faith has been weaponized to guilt us into supporting Israel regardless of the situation.

Do you even know the difference between dispensationalism and covenant theology? Have you actually studied the Bible or do you just throw out cherry-picked, zero-context passages that support your preconceived world view?
My comment was a serious one regarding dispensationalism, how it affects people's world view, leads to war mongering, and how the elites have weaponized it against us. And believe it or not, Dispensationalism is a new concept that was developed in the 19th century and was not taught by the church's fathers. (And I am a dipensationalist.)
If you are going to comment on stuff like this try actually reflecting on what was written and apply some thought to it. That furthers the conversation.

Those are great questions and I don't know the answer. I'm a premillennial dispensationalist and do believe in the end times prophesy and the restoration of Israel. I also believe these passages are meant to be taken literally (while also having great respect for the many revered church fathers who didn't think this.)
But as was mentioned by another commenter, Israel (the modern state) isn't necessarily synonymous with the "people of Israel" described in the Bible.
Seems to me we must view the actions of Israel (the state rather than the people) through a biblical lens in regards to the situation. Is their behavior in accordance with God's Word? Depends on the situation. Do they have the right to defend themselves when attacked? Absolutely. Do they have the right to pre-emptively assassinate perceived enemies? Maybe. Do they have the right to abuse Palestinians out of some sense of religious or racial superiority? No.
However many people out of a misplaced sense of biblical interpretation (IMO) fail to make these distinctions. They defend all actions of the Israeli state, even when those actions would seem to directly violate God's Word as to how we are to treat others. So either we are misinterpreting the Bible or it's contradicting itself. As someone who believes in the inerrancy of scripture, it cannot be the latter.
So I don't know the answer. I do know that there is no shortage of people who misquote the Bible to further their own agenda, but who don't know Jesus. The devil himself quoted scripture when tempting Jesus. Many of our elites saying the Bible compels us to always defend Israel fall into this category IMO.
Adding here that I responded to Austin the way I did because it was clear his initial response was in bad faith. Great discussion with Tom and others! I, too, am a Dispensationalist of the pre-trib rapture variety, though much less learned/articulate than you. Owing to previous "programming", I still have to remind myself that Israel in Scripture is not the secular Israeli state.
I'd probably phrase that as not *necessarily* the secular Israel state. Maybe it is but I don't think so based on its actions. What does seem clear to me as we can't give it a blank check and excuse its actions because it seems to align with a Dispensationalist interpretation. Some of the biggest war mongers out there (Pence, Pompeo, George W Bush) were all Dispensationalists which I personally find very troubling.
Looking back, I remember cheering for the bombing of Iraq in my youth and naivety. In hindsight, the war was a disaster by just about every objective measure. Thousands of killed US troops, tens of thousands of maimed US troops, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis killed, a couple trillion dollars, and now Iran runs the place. The Wikipedia articles on Dispensationalism and Covenant theology are surprisingly good and straight-forward, unlike a lot of stuff on Wikipedia. Probably because the leftists/atheists are too lazy to actually learn this stuff which they would need to do to try and discredit it.
The problems with all this though, are three-fold IMO:
- It causes division within the body by focusing the church on secondary doctrines that aren't within the essentials of Christianity and salvation (denominations fighting with each other)
- It leads people to simplistic views of history and interpreting current events (IMO this is why Mike Pence is so militaristic and always pushing wars though I can't see his heart obviously)
- It is used by unscrupulous people to promote a secular agenda (likely most of those pushing the view that we must always back Israel regardless of how awful it behaves).
I'm a Dispensationalist but I fully recognize I may be wrong and it's not my place to argue with people like Martin Luther who never taught this stuff. I also recognize good people can disagree and still be sincere Bible-believing Christians.
Your approach to your CHRISTian beliefs is very much akin to mine. I'm no Bible "thumper"...but when the occasion arises while speaking with people, I interject Biblical verses to make a point that is valid to the discourse. I call the Bible, the Book of Life...it's also a history of Yahweh's longing for a people group to love him and obey His commandments (so their lives will be filled with His grace and harmony).

We're great at intel on electronic communications, but not word-of-mouth/paper communications. That requires human sources on the ground, much harder to do successfully. I don't know anything about Hamas, but they may be small enough not to need to communicate electronically. In warfare, if one side is very strong on one ability, the other side looks for a way around that strength.
I learned the first part from an Army Intel officer I knew, when I asked him why we didn't have better intel on North Korea back when they were having a terrible famine and South Korea had re-emergence of malaria. NIV seemed okay from what I had read, but it leaned toward phrase-for-phrase.
I had started New King James, which seemed pretty good, but the one I bought had print that was too small, so I suppose I'll have to get another one.

It's not just Revelation that is, well, relevant, though. There is prophecy throughout that is pertinent. For example, the notion that Israel is an example to the world can be seen in Genesis. Jerusalem as a stumbling block for the nations of the world. We were told about these things.
Not to nickpick but... everyone keeps saying "Revelations". It's Revelation.
John writes, "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His servants - things which must SHORTLY take place... for THE TIME IS NEAR." I don't see how anyone can ignore the very first two sentences of John's epistle and throw everything that the LORD showed him 2,000 years into the future!

God is not constrained by our concept of time. He wanted the early church on guard because many anti-Christs were already at work in the world.
He has also told us that many things would happen that have not yet happened. We have to distinguish between prophecy partially fulfilled to show us typology, and prophecy totally fulfilled.
Jesus gave us an example of this when he mentioned "the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel." Antiochus Epiphanus had already partially fulfilled this when Jesus spoke of it. Much later, when Titus desolated the temple, the decreed end spoken of in Daniel 9 was not poured out on him. We see the decreed end in Revelation 19:20. That was not consistent with the end Titus.
John didn't write Revelation in 90 AD to warn us about things that happened in 70 AD.
Chilton wants the reader to look for revival. In Matthew 24, we were told we would see tribulation. Scripture also tells us we will see apostasy, and then the man of sin would be revealed (2 Thessalonians 2.)
We were warned that many in the church would fall away. If we take a preterist view, we will not be on guard for this. We'll watch it happen. It's happening now, in fact.
I know we won't resolve this in this forum.
I'll leave you with this: Keep reading the Bible, and only filter it through more of the Bible. Not through Chilton, or anyone else's commentary. What we were warned about more than anything else is deception.
For someone who eschews commentaries, that was quite a commentary in and of itself. Now I do agree that all things must be tested by the Word. The Revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave Him to show John and the church of his day used the language and imagery of the Old Testament and cannot be understood apart from an understanding of that language (which, of course, the church of John's day was very familiar with). Using current events to retroactively interpret Jesus' Revelation is inappropriate whether it be the current events of the Dark Ages or WWII or today or the current events of the year 2999. One must let Scripture interpret Scripture. That is the standard. Most of modern day interpretation has been done by using the headlines from today's newspapers to interpret the "prophetic" passages of scripture. As a result, you see recurring predictions like Hal Lindsay's popular "Late Great Planet Earth" which obviously did not prove out. This is a failing of the modern church.
Psalm 90:4 has a specific meaning but it does not give us license to interpret every reference in Scripture to a day as a 1,000 years. John wrote that he received Christ's Revelation by His angel who bore witness to everything John saw. John wrote that these things "must shortly take place" and that "the time is near." That was John's prelude to the Revelation and were his words.
Now, there is no space here to get into a whole exegesis of this issue but I would like to point one thing out. John was writing to the churches of his day in Asia. If your contention that the vision concerns events 2,000 years in John's future is correct then that means John lied to his contemporary brothers and sisters in Christ for he was telling them the time of this vision was near and was shortly to take place. I have never seen Jesus or the Holy Spirit or any Scripture practice deception as part of the Word of God. Yet this is the context that John establishes for God's Revelation right up front in his prelude to the Vision. This cannot be reconciled.
Just to comment further, Daniel 9:26-27 prophesies the coming of the armies to destroy Jerusalem and the Temple. The parallel passage to Matt 24 and Daniel 9 is Luke 21:20-22 which makes clear the meaning of Matt and Daniel. This is the "abomination of desolation" and, as Luke explains, was to be the armed invasion of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Temple as God brings the Old Covenant to a close. In 68 AD, the Edomites, the age long enemies of Israel, surrounded and invaded the city and slaughtered 8,500 people in the Temple. In the words of Josephus, this was "the beginning of the destruction of the city. From this very day may be dated the overthrow of her wall and the ruin of her affairs." These are "the days of vengeance that all things which are written (in the OT) may be fulfilled" Luke 21:22.
The modern church does not understand these prophecies because they do not understand the economy of God's covenants and their meaning. This was the closing out of the Old Covenant with God's wrath poured out on apostate Israel and the establishment of the New Covenant in Christ's shed blood. Jesus said in Matt 24:21, "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, NOR EVER SHALL BE." The Great Tribulation refers to the destruction of Temple in that generation alone (70 AD), an absolutely unique event in history never to be repeated.
You're citing another partial fulfillment. You are also doing what you admonished me for doing with the events of 70 AD. Those events left a vast many directly associated prophecies unfulfilled.
John wrote Revelation before the destruction of Jerusalem. How could John be instructed to measure the temple (etc) if the temple had already been destroyed?
From my understanding, this is prophetic of a rebuilt third temple that will be desecrated by the man of sin. I don't believe this has been fulfilled because of all the other associated prophecies that remain unfulfilled. Revelation seems to me full of unfulfilled prophecies, as is the rest of Scripture.

John was exiled to Patmos when he wrote Revelation. This would have been in the 90's AD, during the reign of Roman emperor Domitian. So, after the destruction of the 2nd temple.
A friend showed me her New Inductive Study Bible which contains lots of workbook type pages to fill in. It is available in ESV or NAS. I don’t know the difference between those two translations, but have used the Hebrew Greek Word Study Bible (NAS) for 20 years. Recently learned of the Legacy Standard Bible, also a word for word translation and also published by Lockman. I will probably end up getting a print version of it.

Both countries are experiencing a Delta variant outbreak. So let me ask you a question. If you vaccinated—

And let's talk about safety. Now this is the real issue. There are three levels of safety or death that we need to look at. One is acute, one is subacute, and long term.
Acute I'll define from the moment of injection til 3 months. The number one risk of the shot is blood clots just like Dr. Yeadon said. According to the Salk Institute— oh by the way, everything I am saying I will defend with documentation and please don't take my word for it, you should do your due diligence. And I can provide to you proof for everything that I'm saying. According to the Salk Institute when a person gives an injection of these vaccines quote unquote, the body becomes a spike-producing factory making trillions of spikes which migrate to the endothelium which is the inner lining of your blood vessels. And its basically little thorns on the inside of your vasculature. As the blood cells flow through it they get damaged, they cause blood clots. If that happens in the heart a heart attack, if that happens in the brain that's a stroke.
So we're seeing the number one cause of death in the short term is some blood clots. And most of it is happening within the first three, four days. Forty percent is happening within the first three days of injection of this poison death shot.
Now the other problem is that it's causing myocarditis or inflammation in the hearts of children— young adults, I'm sorry, in the hearts of young adults.
And the third problem which is the most disturbing is according to the New England Journal of Medicine article their preliminary data the miscarriage rate in the first trimester only gets vaccinated in the first trimester goes from 10% to 80%. I want you to understand what I just said. The miscarriage rate in the first trimester of pregnant women when they get vaccinated goes up by a factor of 8. That's preliminary data, it may change with time, but I'm just telling you what it is as of today. That's the smallest of the problem.
The second problem is the sub-acute death issue which is the following, that the animal studies that were done with these vaccines showed that all the animals responded well in generating antibodies. When they were challenged, however, with the virus that they were immunized against, a large percentage of them died. And when that was investigated it was found their immune system had killed them. It's called something, Antibody Dependent Enhancement or pathogenic priming or paradoxical immune enhancement. But the point is that a lot of those animals died. So you can make an argument, maybe human beings are different. My answer to you, maybe, however those studies were not done. You are the study right now. The Pfizer CEO said, Israel is the biggest laboratory in the world. And so those long term studies to rule out, Dr. Luc Montagnier who won the Nobel Prize in medicine for the discovery of HIV said that this is the biggest risk to humanity and the biggest risk of genocide in the history of humanity. And so the risk of an ADE reaction in human beings which happens later has not been ruled out. So my question is, why would I vaccinate someone with a potentially destructive lethal substance without ruling that out first?
And the third component here is the long-term consequences. There is definite evidence that it affects fertility, damages ovarian function, reduces sperm counts. Number one.
Number two, definitely increases the amount of auto-immune diseases. Who knows over time how that is going to reduce lifespan?
And just last week a paper came out showing it increases the risk of cancer.
DR. VLADIMIR ZELENKO: So any way you want to look at it, whether in the acute setting where it causes blood clots, inflammation of the heart and miscarriages, in the midterm subacute setting where it can result in a pathological disastrous immune reaction, or in the long term whether it causes increasing autoimmune diseases, cancer and infertility. Now that's a big concern. Actually I'll say it this way. In my opinion the current Israeli government is a gilgul* of Joseph Mengele. They have permitted, they have permitted human experimentation of their own people. And I'm going to tell you that I hope, I hope this Beis Din** is a little different, maybe not, but I know I finally understood [inaudible] say that if you see tsuris in klal Israel## you should look at the [inaudible], that if you see trouble in the Jewish people, you should look at the rabbinic leadership because if that's, if the head is diseased, what do you expect of the body?
So I beg of this Beis Din to put the interests of klal Israel above politics and anything else that may alter your opinions. I have, I receive death, daily death threats. I risk my life, my career, my financial life, my reputation, almost my family, everything just to sit here and tell you what I'm telling.
So I'll just summarize it that there is no need for this vaccine. And there's actually no need for anyone, and I'll explain. Children, I already told you, they have a 99.998 % chance of getting better. Young adults from 18 to 45 have a 99.95% of getting better. This is according to the CDC. Same concept. Someone who has already has covid and has antibodies, naturally induced immunity is a billion times more effective than artificially-induced immunity through vaccine. So why would I vaccinate someone with a poison death shot that makes inferior or dangerous antibodies when I already have healthy antibodies?
And then if you look at the high risk population that has a 7.5% death rate– So my data which was the first in the world which I published in a peer-reviewed journal which has become the basis of over 200 other studies and that have corroborated my observations that if you treat time frame you reduce death rate by 85%. So out of 600,000 Americans we could have prevented 510,000 from going to the hospital and dying. And by the way I presented this information to Bibi Netanyahu*** directly into his hands by way of [inaudible] in April 2020. And I informed every single member of your Ministry of Health as well.
So my question to you is, if I can reduce the death rate from 7.5% to less than a half a percent, why would I use a poison death shot that doesn't work and has tremendous and horrific side effects?
Now I'll do one more mind experiment with you. If everyone on the planet were to get covid and not get treated, the death rate globally will be less than a half a percent. Now I'm not advocating for that, that's a lot of people, that's 35 million people would die. However if we follow the advice of some of the quote-unquote global leaders, let's say like Bill Gates said last year, 7 billion people need to be vaccinated, the death rate would be over 2 billion people.

Dear AngelaK, I know, I know, they really did glug the Kool-Aid. I myself was surrounded by terrified people and all the kookoo theater for over 2 years. In 2021 my doctor, someone I would describe as a nice guy, tried to talk me into taking the shots. I had to educate him about the vaxx injured-- there were several in my extended family, including a case of Guillain-Barré-- he wasn't hearing it. So that was the end of that. I assume he's been jabbing his patients multiple times-- and blithely assuming that I was just a deluded conspiracy krank, and he would do his Christian best to take care of me when I landed in the hospital dying of covid (I laugh). Nary a word from him since.
I had another doctor friend (I'm not a patient) who also was really into "the narrative," and she told me she just couldn't figure out why all of a sudden so many people were coming into the ER having seizures, maybe they were taking some new drug. At the time of that conversation I was already well aware of people suffering from seizures after taking the jabs. I just raised my eyebrows, said hmmm, and changed the subject because by that time, I had already learned the hard way, there was no telling her anything. So it seems to me that many medical professionals just didn't want to look at what was right in front of their noses-- they remained, and many still remain, in this weird space of cognitive dissonance.
They have also conveniently lied about the IFR which is as low as (or lower) than the IFR for flu. (Infection Fatality Rate). Once you know it’s no more dangerous than the flu WHY THE PANIC AND MORALIZING?

A good friend of the family died early this morning while driving home from work. He managed to pull into a service station off the highway, where he died on the scene of a massive heart attack! I can't even begin to wonder what she's seeing and how she reconciles the thousands of jabs she's given by now. Also a close friend who is a pediatrician - jabbed to the hilt and went along with the narrative for the vaccine schedule. She is a good and decent doctor. My heart breaks.
A friend who has a (rare) anti-covid-vaccine pharmacist client said that she wasn’t allowed to say anything negative about them at work and was told that the phone was being monitored as well. That’s just the things to do when a product is safe and effective! 🙄
In July 2022, I copied this comment a doctor posted about his experience with VAERS:
I completed a VAERS report on a patient of mine and was planning an additional report on another patient to follow (both were under 60 yo and developed spontaneous subdural hematomas within weeks after their shots). I didn't directly state cause/effect but certainly a concerning sequence of events worthy of further trending.
The 1st report took nearly an hour to complete and at the end, ominously required that I swear under the penalty of perjury (or something similar - this was a few years ago) that EVERYTHING I stated was true and accurate and that I could be contacted by a federal investigator to valid ate everything I reported. All my professional and personal contact information was required.
Needless to say, I deleted the report. The burden of proof and threat of consequences seemed too high. Speaking to several colleagues, they felt the same way. VAERS reporting has a substantial barrier to reporting - not facilitation.
Even though I didn't file an official report, I soon thereafter received a separate email (coincidence?) from the Federation of State Medical Boards stating that casting any aspersions regarding the safety and effectiveness of vaccines would be deemed unprofessional conduct and could subject me to investigation, reprimand or even loss of my medical license (and ability to provide for my family!!)

I'm not defending any of this whatsoever, but I do know our pharmacists are under strict rules from corporate that they must report all adverse affects. This means, of course, that the customer has to report it to them.
Several of the other VAERS reports from September are from people who passed out or nearly passed out at some time following their shots. I would imagine that passing out while driving could cause a fatal accident.
Their ridiculous rule of "wait 15 minutes" doesn't catch all of them. After they authorized the first shots for kids, a little 5-year-old girl passed out at school a few DAYS after getting her shot.
Our pharmacy, sadly, gives out the death jabs. I do not and will not. Regardless, we tell everyone to hang for 15 minutes in case there is a reaction. Most people do but some don't and we can't hold them prisoner. We have stock on hand of emergency supplies in case there is a reaction. To my knowledge, we've never needed it. I read everything corporate sent and it is *mandatory* any negative reaction at all is reported. Not saying any of this is good, but is better than nothing.
My son felt faint after a meningitis shot. This was at at military facility immunization clinic, but they didn’t seem to know what to do or have a protocol really. He was just lightheaded, not passed out and they had him lie down. That was it really. kept asking him if he felt better until he did about 15 minutes later. It was kind of weird. I thought they would take his blood pressure or give him something to drink. It didn’t increase my confidence in good care if it had been a serious emergency.
Because the only immediate effect that could happen, at least in the minds of the people who prepared the supplies, is stuff for anaphylactic shock. I didn't read the exact contents, but know there were epi pens, antihistamines and CPR supplies (one way mask, etc). I actually don't think we have a defibulator but should. We have the benefit of a hospital near by and generally can get a squad within 5-6 minutes. We've had to call them for other reasons.

I just transferred an 80 something year old lady to the ER last night whose blood pressure started dropping precipitously 3-4 days after her booster last week. She got it with her flu shot. Earlier this week I encountered TWO CONSECUTIVE recently boosted patients (one of whom had just received shot #7) who were positive for covid. Neither was very sick, but come on. So ridiculous. Several of my colleagues are mysteriously calling out sick now, at a time when we're already very short staffed. People just won't wake up to the bad news that these things are.
A physician friend with three shots was telling me that they used to get colds once a year. Now multiple times a year. I commented that, well, I've heard the c - shots weaken immune system. They looked at me with eyes open. At least they seem open to considering alternative narrative, as we discussed further.

There's been a lot of good comments recently pointing out how much US foreign policy is heavily influenced by Protestant Dispensationalist theology and it's interpretation of end times prophecy regarding Israel. Certainly it drives war mongers like Pence and Pompeo.
As a pre-trib rapture evangelical myself I know I was sucked into the "Israel right or wrong" mindset from shallow beliefs regarding the end times. It really was a shock to realize many historical heroes of the faith didn't interpret these passages this way. And certainly we don't know for sure that this version of Israel is the one referenced in these passages.
It's worth digging into more for people who reflexively support Israel out of some sort of religious belief. One thing I'm certain of is that our faith has been weaponized to guilt us into supporting Israel regardless of the situation.

Those are great questions and I don't know the answer. I'm a premillennial dispensationalist and do believe in the end times prophesy and the restoration of Israel. I also believe these passages are meant to be taken literally (while also having great respect for the many revered church fathers who didn't think this.)
But as was mentioned by another commenter, Israel (the modern state) isn't necessarily synonymous with the "people of Israel" described in the Bible.
Seems to me we must view the actions of Israel (the state rather than the people) through a biblical lens in regards to the situation. Is their behavior in accordance with God's Word? Depends on the situation. Do they have the right to defend themselves when attacked? Absolutely. Do they have the right to pre-emptively assassinate perceived enemies? Maybe. Do they have the right to abuse Palestinians out of some sense of religious or racial superiority? No.
However many people out of a misplaced sense of biblical interpretation (IMO) fail to make these distinctions. They defend all actions of the Israeli state, even when those actions would seem to directly violate God's Word as to how we are to treat others. So either we are misinterpreting the Bible or it's contradicting itself. As someone who believes in the inerrancy of scripture, it cannot be the latter.
So I don't know the answer. I do know that there is no shortage of people who misquote the Bible to further their own agenda, but who don't know Jesus. The devil himself quoted scripture when tempting Jesus. Many of our elites saying the Bible compels us to always defend Israel fall into this category IMO.

I'd probably phrase that as not *necessarily* the secular Israel state. Maybe it is but I don't think so based on its actions. What does seem clear to me as we can't give it a blank check and excuse its actions because it seems to align with a Dispensationalist interpretation. Some of the biggest war mongers out there (Pence, Pompeo, George W Bush) were all Dispensationalists which I personally find very troubling.
Looking back, I remember cheering for the bombing of Iraq in my youth and naivety. In hindsight, the war was a disaster by just about every objective measure. The Wikipedia articles on Dispensationalism and Covenant theology are surprisingly good and straight-forward, unlike a lot of stuff on Wikipedia. Probably because the leftists/atheists are too lazy to actually learn this stuff which they would need to do to try and discredit it.
The problems with all this though, are three-fold IMO:
- It causes division within the body by focusing the church on secondary doctrines that aren't within the essentials of Christianity and salvation (denominations fighting with each other)
- It leads people to simplistic views of history and interpreting current events (IMO this is why Mike Pence is so militaristic and always pushing wars though I can't see his heart obviously)
- It is used by unscrupulous people to promote a secular agenda (likely most of those pushing the view that we must always back Israel regardless of how awful it behaves).

We're great at intel on electronic communications, but not word-of-mouth/paper communications. That requires human sources on the ground, much harder to do successfully. I don't know anything about Hamas, but they may be small enough not to need to communicate electronically. In warfare, if one side is very strong on one ability, the other side looks for a way around that strength.

I like ESV and NASB 95 about equally well. Currently reading LSB, so the jury is out. These lean toward word-for-word, which is my preference.
NIV seemed okay from what I had read, but it leaned toward phrase-for-phrase.
I had started New King James, which seemed pretty good, but the one I bought had print that was too small, so I suppose I'll have to get another one.
NET (New English Translation) is okay, but not my preference.
It's not just Revelation that is, well, relevant, though. There is prophecy throughout that is pertinent. For example, the notion that Israel is an example to the world can be seen in Genesis. Jerusalem as a stumbling block for the nations of the world. We were told about these things.
Not to nickpick but... everyone keeps saying "Revelations". It's Revelation.
John writes, "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His servants - things which must SHORTLY take place... for THE TIME IS NEAR." I don't see how anyone can ignore the very first two sentences of John's epistle and throw everything that the LORD showed him 2,000 years into the future!

God is not constrained by our concept of time. He wanted the early church on guard because many anti-Christs were already at work in the world.
He has also told us that many things would happen that have not yet happened. We have to distinguish between prophecy partially fulfilled to show us typology, and prophecy totally fulfilled.
Jesus gave us an example of this when he mentioned "the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel." Antiochus Epiphanus had already partially fulfilled this when Jesus spoke of it. Much later, when Titus desolated the temple, the decreed end spoken of in Daniel 9 was not poured out on him. We see the decreed end in Revelation 19:20. That was not consistent with the end Titus.
John didn't write Revelation in 90 AD to warn us about things that happened in 70 AD.
Chilton wants the reader to look for revival. In Matthew 24, we were told we would see tribulation. Scripture also tells us we will see apostasy, and then the man of sin would be revealed (2 Thessalonians 2.)
We were warned that many in the church would fall away. If we take a preterist view, we will not be on guard for this. We'll watch it happen. It's happening now, in fact.
I know we won't resolve this in this forum.
I'll leave you with this: Keep reading the Bible, and only filter it through more of the Bible. Not through Chilton, or anyone else's commentary. What we were warned about more than anything else is deception.

For someone who eschews commentaries, that was quite a commentary in and of itself. Now I do agree that all things must be tested by the Word. The Revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave Him to show John and the church of his day used the language and imagery of the Old Testament and cannot be understood apart from an understanding of that language (which, of course, the church of John's day was very familiar with). Using current events to retroactively interpret Jesus' Revelation is inappropriate whether it be the current events of the Dark Ages or WWII or today or the current events of the year 2999. One must let Scripture interpret Scripture. That is the standard. Most of modern day interpretation has been done by using the headlines from today's newspapers to interpret the "prophetic" passages of scripture. As a result, you see recurring predictions like Hal Lindsay's popular "Late Great Planet Earth" which obviously did not prove out. This is a failing of the modern church.
Psalm 90:4 has a specific meaning but it does not give us license to interpret every reference in Scripture to a day as a 1,000 years. John wrote that he received Christ's Revelation by His angel who bore witness to everything John saw. John wrote that these things "must shortly take place" and that "the time is near." That was John's prelude to the Revelation and were his words.
Now, there is no space here to get into a whole exegesis of this issue but I would like to point one thing out. John was writing to the churches of his day in Asia. If your contention that the vision concerns events 2,000 years in John's future is correct then that means John lied to his contemporary brothers and sisters in Christ for he was telling them the time of this vision was near and was shortly to take place. I have never seen Jesus or the Holy Spirit or any Scripture practice deception as part of the Word of God. Yet this is the context that John establishes for God's Revelation right up front in his prelude to the Vision. This cannot be reconciled.
Just to comment further, Daniel 9:26-27 prophesies the coming of the armies to destroy Jerusalem and the Temple. The parallel passage to Matt 24 and Daniel 9 is Luke 21:20-22 which makes clear the meaning of Matt and Daniel. This is the "abomination of desolation" and, as Luke explains, was to be the armed invasion of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Temple as God brings the Old Covenant to a close. In 68 AD, the Edomites, the age long enemies of Israel, surrounded and invaded the city and slaughtered 8,500 people in the Temple. In the words of Josephus, this was "the beginning of the destruction of the city. From this very day may be dated the overthrow of her wall and the ruin of her affairs." These are "the days of vengeance that all things which are written (in the OT) may be fulfilled" Luke 21:22.
The modern church does not understand these prophecies because they do not understand the economy of God's covenants and their meaning. This was the closing out of the Old Covenant with God's wrath poured out on apostate Israel and the establishment of the New Covenant in Christ's shed blood. Jesus said in Matt 24:21, "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, NOR EVER SHALL BE." The Great Tribulation refers to the destruction of Temple in that generation alone (70 AD), an absolutely unique event in history never to be repeated.
You're citing another partial fulfillment. You are also doing what you admonished me for doing with the events of 70 AD. Those events left a vast many directly associated prophecies unfulfilled.
John wrote Revelation before the destruction of Jerusalem. How could John be instructed to measure the temple (etc) if the temple had already been destroyed?
From my understanding, this is prophetic of a rebuilt third temple that will be desecrated by the man of sin. I don't believe this has been fulfilled because of all the other associated prophecies that remain unfulfilled. Revelation seems to me full of unfulfilled prophecies, as is the rest of Scripture.
The question of unfulfilled prophecy seems to be where Phil and I disagree.
Almost forgot:
John was exiled to Patmos when he wrote Revelation. This would have been in the 90's AD, during the reign of Roman emperor Domitian. So, after the destruction of the 2nd temple.
I use either the NIV or ESV Bible when I study as well as scholars and pastors commentary and sermons.

A friend showed me her New Inductive Study Bible which contains lots of workbook type pages to fill in. It is available in ESV or NAS. I don’t know the difference between those two translations, but have used the Hebrew Greek Word Study Bible (NAS) for 20 years. Recently learned of the Legacy Standard Bible, also a word for word translation and also published by Lockman. I will probably end up getting a print version of it.

I feel the number would be significantly higher. And I'll explain to you the rationale for it.

DR. VLADIMIR ZELENKO: If you have a demographic that has no risk of dying from a illness, why why would you inject them with a poison death shot? Now let's see if this thing works. Two countries in the world that are most vaccinated its citizens is Israel 85% rate of vaccination and an island nation in the Indian Ocean called Seychelles, also over 80%. Both countries are experiencing a Delta variant outbreak. So let me ask you a question. If you vaccinated—

DR. VLADIMIR ZELENKO: If you vaccinated your, the majority of your population, why are you still having an outbreak? That's number one. Number two, why would even give a third shot of the same stuff that didn't work the first two times? Alright, that's whether or not it works.
And let's talk about safety. Now this is the real issue. There are three levels of safety or death that we need to look at. One is acute, one is subacute, and long term.
Acute I'll define from the moment of injection til 3 months. The number one risk of the shot is blood clots just like Dr. Yeadon said. According to the Salk Institute— oh by the way, everything I am saying I will defend with documentation and please don't take my word for it, you should do your due diligence. And I can provide to you proof for everything that I'm saying. According to the Salk Institute when a person gives an injection of these vaccines quote unquote, the body becomes a spike-producing factory making trillions of spikes which migrate to the endothelium which is the inner lining of your blood vessels. And its basically little thorns on the inside of your vasculature. As the blood cells flow through it they get damaged, they cause blood clots. If that happens in the heart a heart attack, if that happens in the brain that's a stroke.
So we're seeing the number one cause of death in the short term is some blood clots. And most of it is happening within the first three, four days. Forty percent is happening within the first three days of injection of this poison death shot.
Now the other problem is that it's causing myocarditis or inflammation in the hearts of children— young adults, I'm sorry, in the hearts of young adults.
And the third problem which is the most disturbing is according to the New England Journal of Medicine article their preliminary data the miscarriage rate in the first trimester only gets vaccinated in the first trimester goes from 10% to 80%. I want you to understand what I just said. The miscarriage rate in the first trimester of pregnant women when they get vaccinated goes up by a factor of 8. That's preliminary data, it may change with time, but I'm just telling you what it is as of today. That's the smallest of the problem.
The second problem is the sub-acute death issue which is the following, that the animal studies that were done with these vaccines showed that all the animals responded well in generating antibodies. When they were challenged, however, with the virus that they were immunized against, a large percentage of them died. And when that was investigated it was found their immune system had killed them. It's called something, Antibody Dependent Enhancement or pathogenic priming or paradoxical immune enhancement. But the point is that a lot of those animals died. So you can make an argument, maybe human beings are different. My answer to you, maybe, however those studies were not done. You are the study right now. The Pfizer CEO said, Israel is the biggest laboratory in the world. And so those long term studies to rule out, Dr. Luc Montagnier who won the Nobel Prize in medicine for the discovery of HIV said that this is the biggest risk to humanity and the biggest risk of genocide in the history of humanity. And so the risk of an ADE reaction in human beings which happens later has not been ruled out. So my question is, why would I vaccinate someone with a potentially destructive lethal substance without ruling that out first?
And the third component here is the long-term consequences. There is definite evidence that it affects fertility, damages ovarian function, reduces sperm counts. Number one.
Number two, definitely increases the amount of auto-immune diseases. Who knows over time how that is going to reduce lifespan?
And just last week a paper came out showing it increases the risk of cancer.

VLADIMIR ZELENKO: So any way you want to look at it, whether in the acute setting where it causes blood clots, inflammation of the heart and miscarriages, in the midterm subacute setting where it can result in a pathological disastrous immune reaction, or in the long term whether it causes increasing autoimmune diseases, cancer and infertility. Now that's a big concern. Actually I'll say it this way. In my opinion the current Israeli government is a gilgul* of Joseph Mengele. They have permitted, they have permitted human experimentation of their own people. And I'm going to tell you that I hope, I hope this Beis Din** is a little different, maybe not, but I know I finally understood [inaudible] say that if you see tsuris in klal Israel## you should look at the [inaudible], that if you see trouble in the Jewish people, you should look at the rabbinic leadership because if that's, if the head is diseased, what do you expect of the body?
So I beg of this Beis Din to put the interests of klal Israel above politics and anything else that may alter your opinions. I have, I receive death, daily death threats. I risk my life, my career, my financial life, my reputation, almost my family, everything just to sit here and tell you what I'm telling.
So I'll just summarize it that there is no need for this vaccine. And there's actually no need for anyone, and I'll explain. Children, I already told you, they have a 99.998 % chance of getting better. Young adults from 18 to 45 have a 99.95% of getting better. This is according to the CDC. Same concept. Someone who has already has covid and has antibodies, naturally induced immunity is a billion times more effective than artificially-induced immunity through vaccine. Dear AngelaK, I know, I know, they really did glug the Kool-Aid. I myself was surrounded by terrified people and all the kookoo theater for over 2 years. I'll give a pass to the kids and the very elderly with some neurocognitive decline, and the TV news blaring at them all day-- but the rest of them, including my own doctor, I still cannot believe they didn't figure it out. There were too many "tells," an ongoing parade of tells, and from the start of it in 2020. All the same, I believe that it is vital that we have compassion, and to always remember, all of us, every one of us, has been fooled about something at some time. I assume he's been jabbing his patients multiple times-- and blithely assuming that I was just a deluded conspiracy krank, and he would do his Christian best to take care of me when I landed in the hospital dying of covid (I laugh). Nary a word from him since.
I had another doctor friend (I'm not a patient) who also was really into "the narrative," and she told me she just couldn't figure out why all of a sudden so many people were coming into the ER having seizures, maybe they were taking some new drug. At the time of that conversation I was already well aware of people suffering from seizures after taking the jabs. I just raised my eyebrows, said hmmm, and changed the subject because by that time, I had already learned the hard way, there was no telling her anything. So it seems to me that many medical professionals just didn't want to look at what was right in front of their noses-- they remained, and many still remain, in this weird space of cognitive dissonance.

A good friend of the family died early this morning while driving home from work. He managed to pull into a service station off the highway, where he died on the scene of a massive heart attack! He was 47 years old with a wife and 2 kids. And yes - Vaxxed and boosted because he worked for the transit authority in NYC where they were all required to get the jabs. We are devastated for the family. They will never be the same. Close knit family and he was the only son.....
One cannot even keep track anymore between the injuries and the deaths. It’s like a runaway train. Always waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The very first vaxx death amongst my acquaintances was my hairstylist’s son in law. He was driving home from a medical conference 2 weeks after he had taken the first jab (required to attend said conference), had a massive heart attack, rolled his truck and hit a utility pole. 43 years old.
Over time, my sister has told me story after story about people she knows/knows of who have cancer/heart issues or have died from cancer/heart issues. Yes, it's a runaway train, and some people are never going to see it coming...

That is horrifying. Every day I think of one of my (not close but conservative) friend's daughters who became a pharmacist - she's only 27. I can't even begin to wonder what she's seeing and how she reconciles the thousands of jabs she's given by now. Also a close friend who is a pediatrician - jabbed to the hilt and went along with the narrative for the vaccine schedule. She is a good and decent doctor. My heart breaks.

In July 2022, I copied this comment a doctor posted about his experience with VAERS:
I completed a VAERS report on a patient of mine and was planning an additional report on another patient to follow (both were under 60 yo and developed spontaneous subdural hematomas within weeks after their shots). I didn't directly state cause/effect but certainly a concerning sequence of events worthy of further trending.
The 1st report took nearly an hour to complete and at the end, ominously required that I swear under the penalty of perjury (or something similar - this was a few years ago) that EVERYTHING I stated was true and accurate and that I could be contacted by a federal investigator to valid ate everything I reported. All my professional and personal contact information was required.
Needless to say, I deleted the report. The burden of proof and threat of consequences seemed too high. Speaking to several colleagues, they felt the same way. VAERS reporting has a substantial barrier to reporting - not facilitation.
Even though I didn't file an official report, I soon thereafter received a separate email (coincidence?) from the Federation of State Medical Boards stating that casting any aspersions regarding the safety and effectiveness of vaccines would be deemed unprofessional conduct and could subject me to investigation, reprimand or even loss of my medical license (and ability to provide for my family!!)

Several of the other VAERS reports from September are from people who passed out or nearly passed out at some time following their shots. I would imagine that passing out while driving could cause a fatal accident.

Our pharmacy, sadly, gives out the death jabs. I do not and will not. Regardless, we tell everyone to hang for 15 minutes in case there is a reaction. Most people do but some don't and we can't hold them prisoner. We have stock on hand of emergency supplies in case there is a reaction. To my knowledge, we've never needed it. I read everything corporate sent and it is *mandatory* any negative reaction at all is reported. Not saying any of this is good, but is better than nothing.
My son felt faint after a meningitis shot. This was at at military facility immunization clinic, but they didn’t seem to know what to do or have a protocol really. He was just lightheaded, not passed out and they had him lie down. That was it really. kept asking him if he felt better until he did about 15 minutes later. It was kind of weird. I thought they would take his blood pressure or give him something to drink. It didn’t increase my confidence in good care if it had been a serious emergency.

Because the only immediate effect that could happen, at least in the minds of the people who prepared the supplies, is stuff for anaphylactic shock. I didn't read the exact contents, but know there were epi pens, antihistamines and CPR supplies (one way mask, etc). I actually don't think we have a defibulator but should. We have the benefit of a hospital near by and generally can get a squad within 5-6 minutes. We've had to call them for other reasons.

I just transferred an 80 something year old lady to the ER last night whose blood pressure started dropping precipitously 3-4 days after her booster last week. She got it with her flu shot. Earlier this week I encountered TWO CONSECUTIVE recently boosted patients (one of whom had just received shot #7) who were positive for covid. Neither was very sick, but come on. So ridiculous. Several of my colleagues are mysteriously calling out sick now, at a time when we're already very short staffed. People just won't wake up to the bad news that these things are.
A physician friend with three shots was telling me that they used to get colds once a year. Now multiple times a year. I commented that, well, I've heard the c - shots weaken immune system. They looked at me with eyes open. At least they seem open to considering alternative narrative, as we discussed further.
They had watched a documentary about transgender, and said it was remarkable the money trail pushing the agenda. So eventually I said, well, you have to wonder why they didn't tell us about betadine spray (they learned about that from a hospital staff member, and used it, successfully, for prevention) or vitamin D. "Fowchi made a lot of money from the shots," I said. "I mean, how many people would have taken the gene shots if they knew there was effective treatment? [pause] Would you?" And they quietly shook their head and said, "no."

My husband just arrived home from a packed conference and air travel. He's got a cold - just a minor fever and cough. Maybe it's covid, maybe it's not. Neither of us has ever been tested or vaxxed. We keep a supply of Ivermectin pills and he's been using our sauna each day. Doesn't surprise me people are calling out sick with this obsession over a cold virus.
If I feel something coming on I use Xlear nasal spray to nip it in the bud. I also use it preventively in crowded situations. He may want to try it.
