Think the money issue. Wait till sophomore or junior years so you can live off campus. Save money that way and have a lot more control.

I’m trying. He keeps talking about working or getting a scholarship to help pay for his college. I keep telling him the easiest solution is to live at home. Living on campus costs more than my mortgage! It isn’t the tuition, it’s an in state school, it’s the room and board! And yes, I told him I’d get him an apartment his Jr/Sr years with someone known and trusted. I even told him if he decides to live in a dorm, he can figure out how to pay for the whole shebang but if he lives at home 2 years, I’ll pay for all of it.

My son had a mask free blast at college during covid because he was not in university housing. They couldn't force their draconian measures on them like the college housing students had to suffer with. They became party central. Gave the big middle finger to the covidiots. Yeah👍

Our kids lived in a small house we owned near campus. We paid the expenses and sold it after the last one graduated.
