I think the desire to live longer is the result of a lack of faith in God, actually, no faith in God. If this life on earth is all there is you must live this life as long as possible.

So true. During COVID madness when people would ask me why I was not freaking out (I was concerned) I would say that I am invincible until God decides otherwise! People would get visibly mad.
A side note: 99% of the ppl that I know who didn't get the jab were Christians. No wonder they want us gone.
My take: the desire to prolong life is a FEAR of God, a fear that there may actually be an afterlife where you will be held responsible for how you lived. I don't imagine the life-prolongers actually/actively think about this, but it may be a tickle in the back of their subconscious.
Agreed. “They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.” Romans 2:15
Our Easter sermon was on this. We all fear death. And thus try to push it out as long as. possible. But yes for sure especially without a faith in God.
More than happy to share! Our pastor is amazing. I just emailed his wife to thank her for all she does to support him and make him even better. https://youtu.be/tX-Is29TBYM
I'd also like to know the title of that book. The older I get the more I look forward to heaven. So many people I love are there.
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” Philippians 1:21. I plan on going somewhere far better than this planet, fun and interesting as it is.

Ooh nice. My absolute fave book, but never saw that meaning. Thanks for providing.

Do you have a link to that sermon?

That was really a good message. Thank you.
YES! It was one of the best Easter sermons I’ve heard!💕
I also listened to the next one. 😁
Thank you! I will listen to it this evening.
If that’s not the right one let me know. It might be another recent one. It was in the intro!
I read a book once about a world where everyone was immortal. In the end they all committed suicide because life had no meaning or value.
(I wish I could remember the title and who wrote it. Anyone, please?)

Zardoz is a film about immortality and people wanting to die.
Sean Connery starred in it.
Lazarus Long by Robert Heinlein?
Well said! And so good to hear!

I agree.
