I'm retired. Every day is Saturday.

Yes to no more clocks, calendars, and Zoom calls. A guy found out I was retired and said, “Retired people tell me they’re now busier than ever." I had to admit, "Nope. I don't have that problem.” God is good.

I think a lot of people are old enough to retire, but they can’t financially. More and more I hear them saying, ‘I have to work to have purpose in my life.’ ‘Or, retired people are busier than when they were working.’

I think they’re comforted by thinking that way. But it’s so sad, because retirement is so wonderful.

I retired in 2021, my husband died in 2022, it's 2024 and I'm still figuring it all out day by day! But praise the Lord I am breathing and getting to read C&C every day! My heart breaks for those who still have to work at my age (70) and I give thanks to my Lord who meets my needs daily!

I know some people who can't afford to retired even though they are in their 70's. It is sad that this Harris-Biden economy has ruined retirement for so many people.

It is a blessing. In His goodness, God taught me the difference between wants and needs, woke me up to prepare for old age before it was too late, set me among good neighbors like you and our C&C peeps, and keeps pointing me to all kinds of interesting, up-lifting stuff to read and share. It is well with my soul. “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances” (Philippians 4:11).

Been retired 20 years. I always say, I have nothing to do and all day to do it. 😊

From Calvin and Hobbes (Bill Watterson); “There’s never enough time to do all the nothing you want to do.” I feel this way, when I finally turn in late at night.

From my earliest years, I was pried out of bed around 5:00 a.m. My folks were very devout Pentecostal church goers and we probably averaged 5 nights a week of being out late. Sometimes very late. (We never missed a revival or any sort of meeting within driving distance- no matter how old and prone to flat tires and engine failures our old vehicle might be.)

This sleep deprivation lasted almost my entire adult life, what with a household of four children and a child-like husband to care for, while maintaining a career

So, my great joy now is to sleep until I awake naturally. And have nothing planned.

Kind of makes me wish there was a "dislike" / "sadface" button to express my disapproval on behalf of husbands everywhere.

Guys, don't be a burden on your wives! 😱

I was lucky to have time to decompress after the rat race and just chill. Something between boredom and a nagging sense of purpose stirred me up to get out and about, but I found a lot of very, very good people. It's like catching a second wind and not needing to run so hard.

Retired 11 years come November 23 and loving every moment. I have been so busy but some days I just sit, read my Bible, devote, fix husband’s breakfast and mine. Then sit again if I want. Clean a room. Thankful for what the Lord helps me to do to encourage others each morning with a Scripture verse and picture. Life is worth living!

Thank you, Mr. Childers, again for news worth reading! I’m still amazed how peaceful RNC was compared to what DNC is by your reports!

Good for you. But I've taken a different route. I love learning and being engaged. So I created a podcast that's led to a book series that's led to speaking engagements. It's a passion project that is near and dear to my heart. Whatever spins your wheels, DO IT! Life is short; live it.

Reasonable, your explanation is priceless! I'm retired and sometimes pretty busy but almost always I can still find time to take a nap or walk the dog or sit in the evening and read "Jeff." Like Freebird said, It's the freedom to be busy if I want to be.

I’m not retired and Saturdays are usually my shopping day.

Anytime before 10 am is great, whoever picks the music they play gets two thumbs up, I can get anyone to talk with me, no one is in a bad mood and the lines are super short at the registers.

Lately, since covid, I'll order what I need online and let them bring it to my car. Spending less that way too. I do like to go in however when getting my produce and fresh stuff.

I retired a bit early after a run of good luck.

Now I can dedicate myself to collecting and posting political memes with no fear of getting fired. This is a great luxury and I'm enjoying it immensely, especially because the SF Bay Area is so intolerant of any dissent from the TV narrative.
