Yes to no more clocks, calendars, and Zoom calls. A guy found out I was retired and said, ā€œRetired people tell me they’re now busier than ever." I had to admit, "Nope. I don't have that problem.ā€ God is good.

I think a lot of people are old enough to retire, but they can’t financially. More and more I hear them saying, ā€˜I have to work to have purpose in my life.’ ā€˜Or, retired people are busier than when they were working.’

I think they’re comforted by thinking that way. But it’s so sad, because retirement is so wonderful.

I retired in 2021, my husband died in 2022, it's 2024 and I'm still figuring it all out day by day! But praise the Lord I am breathing and getting to read C&C every day! My heart breaks for those who still have to work at my age (70) and I give thanks to my Lord who meets my needs daily!

I'm retired and have so many projects going on. I love it. The only thing I miss about working is work friends. For an introvert, I was great at making work friends. I could interact as much or as little as I wanted, and then happily go back to my lair, alone.

From Calvin and Hobbes (Bill Watterson); ā€œThere’s never enough time to do all the nothing you want to do.ā€ I feel this way, when I finally turn in late at night.

From my earliest years, I was pried out of bed around 5:00 a.m. My folks were very devout Pentecostal church goers and we probably averaged 5 nights a week of being out late. Sometimes very late. (We never missed a revival or any sort of meeting within driving distance- no matter how old and prone to flat tires and engine failures our old vehicle might be.)

This sleep deprivation lasted almost my entire adult life, what with a household of four children and a child-like husband to care for, while maintaining a career

So, my great joy now is to sleep until I awake naturally. And have nothing planned.

I respectfully disagree. Remember, some of the far left things you’ve heard were stated when he was perceived as a threat to some of Trump’s votes he does not want to cut up children, he does not want to abolish fossil fuels, He is anti-war machine, and is a constitutional and free speech absolutist. If you are referring to the fact that he is pro-choice, perhaps that is why you think of him as far left. I know that is a huge issue to so many people. But the amount of lives he could save all over the world if he could throw a monkey wrench and bio weapons and gain of function research, as well as getting to the bottom of the poisoning of our people with toxic food, pesticides, and drugs, is hard to even quantify. Remember, one of the biggest problems with the jabs is and fertility, reduced sperm, count, and motility, spontaneous abortions, still births and premature births. Kennedy could help put a stop to that not to mention the fact that turbo Is rising like crazy. And dementia and autism. We spent three times as much on ā€œhealthcareā€ as we do on the military budget. They are also going to try to pull more pandemics on us. Kennedy is invaluable on all of these issues. He has a deep understanding of the science, and the ability to clearly communicate it. That is why corporate media hates him so much.

Expand full comment
Susanna Bythesea's avatar

I disagree. Marriage is a spiritual union designed by God and it is the inseparable joining of two souls so that the man and wife become one. This spiritual union actually has nothing to do with government or law other than that the governing authority should be respectful of God’s design and recognize marriage as such. Marriage between a man and a woman is, however, so profitable to a nation/culture/society that many nations protect and promote it through legal incentives/moral disincentives.

Bryan, Genesis 2:20-24

20The man gave names to all the livestock, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found.

21So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep, and while he slept, He took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the area with flesh. 22And from the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man, He made a woman and brought her to him. 23And the man said:

ā€œThis is now bone of my bones

and flesh of my flesh;

she shall be called ā€˜woman,’

for out of man she was taken.ā€

I’m glad you asked! Note, if one does not believe that the Bible is the Word of God, in written, infallible, and perfectly preserved form, then any arguments from it are perhaps not particularly convincing. Likewise, if one is happy to consume some modern paraphrases that claim to be ā€œThe Bibleā€ but are simply muddy waters, one may not even be able to find these following verses or word studies.

But in the King James Bible,

Genesis 1:27 ā€œSo God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.ā€

Genesis 2:20-25 (Fla mom kindly shared); vv. 23-24 being particularly salient to this conversation: ā€œAnd Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.ā€

If you go to a Bible app and enter marriageā€ (I use the KJB so I can’t vouch for how this shows up in modern translations) into the search bar, you can see a host of verses that describe or prescribe the pattern of marriage that God has set forth. Levitical law describes in detail what is acceptable and not acceptable related to marriage - adultery was a crime worthy of death. (For anyone balking at this, to be fair, ALL sin is crime worthy of death: Romans 6:23 ā€œFor the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.ā€ God assigned a heavy earthly price to pay for adultery, due, I believe, to its extreme detriment to the health of families, religious communities and nations. We can see clearly today what happens when you accept a little immorality…then you are expected to celebrate it…then it consumes you and your children…)

For our dispensation in particular, I see God’s instruction through Paul, in 1 Corinthians 7:2 ā€œā€¦to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.ā€

I Timothy 5:9 describes a widow worthy of being supported by the church as ā€œhaving been the wife of one manā€, I Timothy 3:2-5, 8-12 says bishops and deacons should be ā€œhusbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.ā€ It seems a simple inference to see that marriage has a hierarchy and a purpose - husbands leading in their homes, and wives loving their husbands and children and obeying their husbands (Titus 2:4-5; ā€œThat they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.ā€)

For women chafing under the instruction to obey your husband - our culture will put you under obedience to any random dude at the workplace but you chafe at the idea of ONLY having to obey your own husband? I think it is an incredible delight to have ONLY one earthly boss and he is the man who sacrificially loves, serves and provides for his family. Best boss ever.

But I digress, a bit. I hope this helped answer your question, or offer a starting place for your research, Bryan. I have to chase down dinner for my kids (thankfully not literally!) so I may not see future responses but thanks for the question, I appreciate your engagement.

No, I am sorry, but all of that verbiage does not address my question.

Firstly, it starts with an inconsistency. In Genesis 1, a man and a woman are created at once. In Genesis 2, we get the crazy story of Eve being created from Adam's stolen rib.

In any case, husbands and wives are mentioned but it is not defined how they were married.

Lastly, how does your god feel about polygamy?

'King David had at least eight wives. His first two wives were Ahinoam and Abigail, whom he married before he became king of Judah. His next four wives were Maakah, Haggith, Abital, and Eglah, whom he married while he reigned in Hebron for seven and a half years. His most famous wife was Bathsheba, whom he married after he moved his capital to Jerusalem. Each of his wives bore him sons, except for Bathsheba who bore him four sons.'

And those same property property rights are protected by civil unions. Marriage is exclusively between a man and a woman.

By what authority?

Can you cite a definition of 'marriage' from your bible.

From my reading, a marriage in the bible amounts to a suitor

and the girl's father negotiating a purchase price.

This would obviously be considered misogynistic by modern values.

Corruption of marriage is found throughout the Holy Bible which is a historical document. The original couple Adam and Eve were the ideal, but over time, natural man/woman became enemies to God. They were tempted to leave the presence of God and live on their own. Just like today, many feel they don’t need spirituality, faith, or an understanding of the purpose of life to be happy. Or is it they are prideful? Seeking truth through God is not easy, but worthwhile because it is strengthening and ennobling. How unfortunate that we have lost dignity in our society.

Being gay in the military is really not the issue. The military on the surface is honorable, but I hate that they use war for profit and our men/women as fodder. There is another very dark side that does secret operations/experiments on it's own and others. We know of a few like Paperclip, but there are operations that do horrific things to children and train them to do horrific things too all for research and spiritual satanic purposes in the high ranks of the military.

If we knew how sinister the world's leadership (and entertainment industries) probably from the beginning, is/was, we would not be able to comprehend or handle it.

That is why I say he needs some folks around him who can balance out his tendencies to lose track of what needs to be said and done. He didn't have that in his first administration. He had villains around him.

I can point out one instance in which he just could not keep his eye on the ball. That was when Sidney Powell, Mike Flynn and Patrick Byrne were so worried about Trump not getting good advice on the election steal, that they "crashed" the White House one night in December 2020. Why would any conservative in their right mind watch it (aside from Jeff Childers doing it as a public service)? We all know they are liars and mostly degenerates, why would anyone subject themselves to this? What good can come from it?

Human beings are a strange lot in that they intentionally torture themselves with things that make them miserable rather than just turn it off. I will never forget I was on business travel when the Newtown shooting happened. I heard it on the news in the car on the way to the airport. Of course it was horrible, but it wasn't happening to me, it was a thousand miles away, and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it. So I said a short prayer, changed the channel, and enjoyed music for the rest of the hour drive.

When I got to the airport I met my boss there. The first words out of his mouth were about the shooting. He said how he was desperate for news about it and was constantly searching around the news station on the entire drive trying to find more information. He made himself miserable for an hour over something completely out of his control.

IMO, this is the difference between believing God is in control versus feeling like a helpless peon in the universe. People who feel helpless are desperate for any information they can cling to and make themselves miserable in the process.

Don't do this too yourself. There's no need to watch the Dems lie to be "informed". We know their character and that they will try every dirty trick to steal it. Unless it's your job to counter them, focus on what you can control and enjoy life.

Edit: typos

I wasn't thinking about that verse but it's fantastic.

One of the benefits of attending a strongly biblical church (thirty years for me) is that you can't help but being brainwashed (but in a good way) over time. The Bible calls it the renewing of one's mind (Romans 12). After a while there's an inherent sense of biblical vs. non-biblical behavior. One doesn't need to search for a verse to understand how to react to things as it becomes one's nature.

And of course being open to be led by the Holy Spirit is key. But one has to know the Bible to understand if something is truly of the Lord. The Holy Spirit is the author of the Bible and He doesn't contradict Himself. So if one is questioning if something is of the Lord, but it contradicts scripture, it's an easy call.

I share your gratitude to Mr. Childers, Esq. for diving on this grenade to save his platoon. The whole thing is an exercise in bizarre demagoguery.

Parenthetically, I managed to stumble upon an article this morning from The Daily Mail excerpting Michigan Attorney General and militant lesbian Dana Nessel's challenge to republicans and the conservative Supreme Court justices to prey the wedding ring from her "cold, dead, gay hand." This is the climate the DNC is actively creating. Yet, even the most staunch reactionaries could not care less about gay marriage.

Watching Nessel in full fascist "Mussolini on the Balcony" mode serves as yet another reminder of why I am glad that my wife and I pulled up stakes and left Michigan for good.

For me personally that ship has sailed. If gay people wish to enjoy the fruits and detriments of wedded bliss, more power to them. I'm more disturbed by the overtly hateful rhetoric (as evidenced by Dana Nessel), the cavalcade of dysfunctional politicians (also evidenced by Dana Nessel) and washed-up celebrities being rolled out to support the DNC's cause, and the harsh reality that there is still a significant number of people out there who share these beliefs.

Maybe only the Elect?

My best guess from long observation is that God is not really, really real in any vivid sense in the minds of most Christians. Maybe part real. Maybe part abstraction. Maybe somewhat of an deus ex machina spewing out goodies, benefits, uplifting 'feel goods' ... like a bubble gum machine gone mad awry.

For example! How many folks, and that's if they had the wit to figure it out in the first place, would forgo a profit of 7x or 8x so far over the past five to years in BitCoin for reason of it being a violation of the 9th Commandment ... not to mention other injunctions against the same elsewhere? And with huge multiples of profit down the road yet to appear? Now that is a real tough decision to have to make.

For most Christians sitting in Fake Churches, their god is their comfort physical, their comfort emotional, and add in the twin gods of wealth and of the blind eye, both cauterizing of an hope to wise judgment? And why is this? Because it is very, very uncomfortable to turn pages in Foxe's Book of Martyrs and then put on a happy face. I ought to know because, and as afore mentioned elsewhere, I like gelato mint chocolate chip. And the omnipresent danger in gelato mint chip and other such seductive persuasions as may be thrown across one's pathway is that they can easily trend towards the unthinking habitual and the overriding. It is far easier to pretend the world is what it isn't.

Humanity walks a tightrope every day and knows it not.

Most politicians forget they ever said such things, whereas, though he was my last choice of Republican candidates in 2016, I became an enthusiastic supporter - no new wars, progress in the existing ones, Abraham Accords, moved the Embassy to Jerusalem (not an issue I had followed or cared about, but he was the first in a long line who promised that to actually do it), reasonably conservative Supreme Court Justices (the list he put out in 2016 helped me to vote for him, and their presence has resulted in some critically important decisions), did build some decent wall against amazing opposition, good border policy resulting in what Border Patrol personnel have called the most secure border in their lifetimes, removed four (if I recall correctly) regulations for every new one. Off the top of my head; not complete, I'm sure. Cue the insult from Vonu:

Maybe it's not a big deal, but I think Wolf might have her facts wrong. She calls Shanahan a "tech founder." My understanding is she married a Silicon Valley hedge fund guy, cheated on him, and divorced him in a year. Then she married Brin (Google co-founder), divorced him in three years and is living off the $100 million in the pre-nup. Now she's shacking up with one of the early Bitcoin people. I'd have my reservations about her scruples.

"...If they do join forces, the last reason I believe this alliance will be unstoppable, does have to do with personal qualities. President Trump, whatever you may think of him, is a brave man. July 13 2024 revealed that more starkly than ever. RFK Jr is a brave man. Just to step outside to attend an event every day, given his family’s history and the dearth of Secret Service engineered by the murderous Biden regime, takes unbelievable personal courage. RFK Jr has already shown he will face almost any attack in order to do the right things for public health, for liberty, for our country.

And whatever you may think of the other side — they are not personally brave people. With a show of real moral and grassroots force, from this alliance, they will crumple.

I’m excited about the RFK Jr endorsement! For one, I think it affirms many people’s sense that RFK, while politically and ideologically liberal, is also a man of principle and, like you said, for the reasons you stated, exceedingly brave. He also knows the deep state. Like, seeing the whites of their eyes kind of know - but isn’t one of them. One of the ruling elite, perhaps. But he still hates those who killed his dad and uncle and (probably) nephew/niece-in-law. I think he could have a net positive effect both on the election and on our nation in a support role.

I just hope he stays alive to make his endorsement, and of course well beyond.

In her Substack, she notes that RFK/Shanahan pulls votes from Harris/Walz. Why would we believe that those votes won’t go back to Harris/Walz? I’m not 100% convinced that the endorsement of Trump/Vance would be enough to sway those votes that way. One of the reasons people like RFK/Shanahan is because of medical freedom, but another reason is because they didn’t like the choice of a Trump/Biden matchup again. Now that Biden has dropped out, Harris is the fresh face they were looking for, even though her policies would decimate the middle class. I've admired RFK Jr for a long time as my son suffered severe adverse reactions as a toddler from vaccines. He was one of the few brave enough to state the truth back then, but his seemingly knee-jerk support of left-wing causes (climate change for example) made me suspicious.

Nicole Shanahan has really impressed me though. I bought the caricature of her being a Laurie David type (i.e. a froot loop leftist who happened to marry a rich guy) but now admit I was completely wrong. She is extremely smart and level-headed, and very well spoken. But most important, she truly understands what we are up against. I first noticed this when she put out a tweet listing what the problems the world faced. Most of them were standard populist talking points with one exception. I don't recall exactly the context, but one of the points was being ruled by sociopathic pedophiles (or something to that effect).

I immediately became a fan and became more impressed as I listened to her interviews. Not only RFK, but she belongs in a Trump administration too.

Expand full comment

Treason is defined in the Constitution at Article 3, Section 3, as consisting "only in levying War against (the United States), or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."

All members of the American military take an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; (and to) bear true faith and allegiance to the same."

When the military is committed to foreign actions without a declaration of war by Congress, as required by Article 1, Section 8, Paragraph 11 of the Constitution, that is a violation of the Constitution, arguably the action of domestic enemies.

When a member of the military participates in an unconstitutional foreign military deployment, s/he violates both the Constitution and his/her oath to "support and defend" it, giving "aid and comfort" to it's "domestic enemies," committing treason by the definition given by the Constitution.

Wow. Kind of funny though all the bikers at Sturgis boycotted the Budweiser tent because of the Bud light thing. Little did they know they should have been boycotting their own bikes. George Carlin did a skit about the ā€œpussification of the american male in the form of Harley Davidson theme restaurantsā€ in one of his standups. You can find it on the web I’m sure. If he was only still alive to see this one…

Edit: heres a link to that standup routine https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eHNRgg3mQqA

I would not be surprised if Robby Starbuck continues a long term campaign against them if they step out of line again.

This is EXACTLY right.. they have no plan except 'I'm not Trump"

"Fake conservative David Brooks, who’s already endorsed the Cackler, was frustrated by the lack of substance at the Convention, warning ā€œDemocrats are making a big mistake by not talking more about how to create a growing economy, which is the No. 1 issue on voters’ minds.ā€ David noted, as I have, that ā€œthis was another night when they seemed to have nothing to say about it.ā€

Luc, they have nothing to say since there is no plan or platform beyond LGBTQwhatever, "racism", DEI, emotional responses, and "everything will be great when Trump is gone." When I ask people what the Democratic platform is, they can't say!

TikTok influencers, Oprah and the Obamas...that should tell us all we need to know about the substance of Ms Harris and her platform!

IF Harris wants to tax Billionaires more then there are two for sure. Why don't they volunteer their billions to help us all? HMMM

They can always refuse to take deductions or volunteer to pay extra taxes! No law against that! 😬 But of course, they won’t. Because it’s all about virtue signaling and they will always do everything they can to pay as little as possible.

And consider how & when the Obamas acquired their billions. How many properties do they own now, since he left office? I imaging FJB shared some of his take with his former (current) boss.

šŸ’‰To follow up on Jeff’s point ā€œFinally, sometimes a little truth breaks out in the most unexpected places,ā€ the militarydotcom newsletter I receive daily had this headline today: ā€œRetired Marine General Found Dead at Twentynine Palms Died of Natural Causes, Autopsy Shows,ā€ HOWEVER, it went on to report these pieces of info:

•After not checking out of his room at the hotel’s usual time, 11am, staff entered and found him. Paramedics were called to the scene, no resuscitation efforts were made, and having been on base for a CoC Ceremony the day before, he was pronounced dead at the scene, 1:39pm on June 29th.

ā€¢ā€œThe San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department coroner, found that a blood clot, also known as a deep vein thrombosis, in Mullen's left leg dislodged and traveled to his lungs, blocking the left and right sides of his pulmonary arteries, a condition also known as a pulmonary embolism.ā€

• ā€œThe report, which included a document titled "coroner investigation," noted that Mullen's bags were packed and organized "as if he was leaving the premises."ā€

• ā€œThe autopsy noted that Mullen did not have a diagnosed medical history, but had been to a doctor prior to his death due to "some lung issues" and a bad cough, the report said, citing his next of kin. The doctor cleared him but prescribed an inhaler after "he had been unable to breathe properly," the autopsy said.ā€

This is so sad. We were told many would die 3-5 years. We are at 3.5 years now. Four of my son's classmates with whom he graduated now have no father. All died in the past 3 years and were late 40's-early 50's. He had about 250 in his graduating class. Three HA and 1 from cancer within 4 days of diagnosis.

Natural causes just means not murder, not suicide, and not accidental (like drowning).
