What I find humorous is that even during the time of Jesus there were only two tribes in Israel, the tribe of Judah and a few from Levi. The 10 tribes of northern Israel that had been taken into captivity rejected an offer from Judah to return to the land and instead decided to pick up and go west. The 10 tribes of northern Israel that had been taken into captivity rejected an offer from Judah to return to the land and instead decided to pick up and go west. They crossed the Caucasus Mountains and disappeared off the pages of recorded history. With the sacking of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD, the Jews were dispersed and the genealogies destroyed thus ending forever the Old Covenant sacrificial system. Without the genealogies, there can be no High Priest without whom there can be no sacrifice. Obviously, God put an end to it because the sacrifice of the Christ is the ultimate sacrifice and he is now the High Priest.
BTW, at the same time the 10 tribes disappeared from history into the Caucasus mountains the Celtic tribes suddenly appeared, in the millions, on the east side of the Caucasus mountains. Gee, I wonder.....
Yes. That was the point of God destroying the Temple and the genealogies. The OT provisional administration of grace was ended once the Messiah came and fulfilled everything that was foreshadowed by the OT covenant. Those who rejected the Messiah when he came to them were cut off from covenant with God. But His offer is always available to all.
Phil — I’m way behind in my reading but found this thread I’d left open on my ph. You had better watch what you post, bc they are so good I am copying & saving a great many lest those gems get lost & buried in the sediments of C&C comms. Treasures.

Yep. But I thought Christ’s death on the cross ended the sacrifices — once for all — & the rending of the curtain in the temple was a sign of it.
So even hypothetically, if they had all their priestly ducks in a row & all the tribes, it’d be useless. …?
