Speaking of Iceland, for anyone who hasn't seen it yet β EuroVision is a brilliantly fun movie to watch over the Christmas break.
It's one of the few good things on Netflix, very charming and funny.
[The main characters are from Iceland, and the soundtrack is actually fantastic, headed up by Mollie Sanden's stunning song 'Husavik (My Hometown)' which is about the Icelandic town she grew up in - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21c3duHlFAc].
Yeah, me too. He's done many bad movies, but so many good ones. Blades of Glory is pure genius, and EuroVision may be his best movie, imo.
Apparently his wife is Swedish, and she said to him to for years β we have this comically camp song contest, that is also very charming because it's quite earnest (which is true; that's what makes it funny). Literally hundreds of millions of people watch it. It's almost crazy that no movie has been made about it!
She somehow managed to explain that ...terrible as it is... millions of people really love it and invest in it β so she said he should make a movie about it.
And finally he did.
I think that's such a cute story. His wife was right, there's a great story there.
And her personal knowledge of being Scandi, allowed them to key into some of the sillier and funnier points of the movie. Love it.

Thanks for the recommendation! I just added to my to-watch list. :D
I just watched it a couple days ago. Great film! So fun!
Criminally underrated movie!
Watching now. Seems so unlikely to be on Netflix. Enjoying it immensely. Ty
Agreed, it's the totally the kind of movie that looks like it will be awful, but turns out to be such fun, and has a lovely message to boot.
Enjoy!
And I happen to like Will Ferrel. He makes me laugh. π€
If you like Will donβt miss the classic comedy, Dick, the true story of deep throat. Great cast and 70βs soundtrack.
