Maybe we could reduce profligate federal spending if we made all the remaining days that aren't federal holidays, federal holidays. It would also reduce the number of anticonstitutional decisions by federal bureaucracies and courts.

The appropriate way to celebrate Juneteenth would be that any income earned on that day is entirely exempt from federal taxes. I suppose we could extend that to all of the other days, too.

That one still kills me. I'd never _heard_ of Juneteenth until I moved to Texas. And even then - it was ... just a day. You might get a lesson or something on it in public school, but it was never any sort of holiday. Still crazy that it's a federal holiday now and people are acting like it was always some huge event.

Well, Kwanzaa earns a lot of money and social cred for the flubadub who invented it, and for the greeting card makers who jumped on that Fweedom Train.

The Juneteenth malarkey has gone too far: I read that in CA they will pay reparations to any person whose ancestors were slaves. Hmmm does that include Koreans who were enslaved by Japanese or Greeks who were enslaved to Ottoman Turks as well?

It would be easier for a more enlightened SCOTUS to revisit UNITED STATES v. BENSON (2009) and make a correction similar to that applied to Roe v. Wade.

A true jubilee would be an improvement over the status quo.
