They are ALL dogs. "Breed" is a linguistic convention by which we distinguish different characteristics. If different breeds crossbreed then I suppose you have a "half-breed". But it's still just a dog.

Good point. And to throw a funny wrench into this argument, since we are in the topic of dogs…in dog breeds, not only physical characteristics, but some behavioral characteristics appear to be genetic. My golden retriever fetched as a puppy, shepherds nip heels and herd kids and ducks and sheep, without being taught.
So my musing is, what in the human world is the parallel behaviorally? I come from a long line of nurses and became a doctor. Is that in my DNA? Are some families inherently friendlier? More aggressive? Just pondering….

So we're all saying the same thing. There's different 'breeds' of humans, just like birds and dogs. But vast differences between the breeds.
When the Euros first landed their sailing ships on Sub-Saharan Africa, the natives there had no written languages or multi-story buildings.
Meanwhile the Euros had centuries of written languages and music, metallurgy, and massive cathedrals hundreds of feet tall.
A big difference in the 'breed' of human population groups.
