I was already becoming an anti-vaxxer in 1998 when I was seeing side effects in my first baby then, fast forward 2006 I was preg with my youngest and reading even more that fuled my determinations that the child vaci schedule was crap. Then I read a simple pamphlet I picked up at the OBGYN basically said: stop breastfeeding your infant so the vaccines will work and I'm thinking that wow my breast milk is that POWEFUL,,,,so that was it, last baby has had no vaci at all ( now 17) and that boy got breast milk for two years😄

Both of my kids were fully vaxxed, right on schedule. I didn’t see the truth. Now I cry when I read these articles/studies. What have I done? Good on you for seeing the scam.

My son and DIL have two children. Both boys. 13 and 11. Both preemies. Fed exclusively breast milk until they were weaned. Both among the largest, healthiest and brightest kids in their respective classes. Lots of other reasons, but YES, mama's milk is that powerful. Keep them off formula (what exactly is in that crap, anyway?).

My child bearing years were from 1975-1982. My four babies were all breast fed almost exclusively for the first 6 weeks. Then continued as a major part of their diet until around age 2 or so.

And I slept with them by my side. Today that is considered to be soooo dangerous. But it was an accepted practice at the time. (Well, accepted by us counter culture types. Plenty of people thought I was nuts.). I think a celebrity wrote a book called ‘The Family Bed’ that recommended getting a California King and sleeping with your babies and toddlers. ( I know personally that I had never heard of SIDS at that point. I was certainly never drunk or drugged and if that baby stirred, I was instantly awake. The baby would nurse and we would both fall back asleep. There was no sleep deprivation. Daddy never knew anything about it.

I also had true midwife deliveries without any hospital/medical interventions.

A couple of decades later, my children are having children and I learned that the medical profession was absolutely anal about how babies had to sleep on firm, hard mattresses in a crib and on their back. Midwifery was highly regulated and limited. My daughters were able to access it, but it was a little different. SIDS was a huge fear. SIDS came along with infant vaccinations, if you ask me.

Willing Spirit, your last line says it all. We never heard of SIDS or AUTISM before this ridiculous schedule of childhood "vaccinations" was introduced.

Heh…my grandtwins (by proxy) are being raised by two stupid, stupid Millenials. They did the strict swaddling and sleeping on their backs, only to have to wear corrective helmets because their skulls had become quite misshapen. They tell us that the twins are not vaxxed, but I don’t believe them.

Hahaha! Did the same and rec to dtr. However, she bought into the fear factor until her first was born; quick 180 and had exact repeat of your story. Zero sleep deprivation for BOTH (well, all 3) infant and Mom is huge. I believe that SIDS is lower in shared beds (and will be even lower if folks start thinking about the Ch V schedule).

Watching old movies and such confirms that it wasn’t until SIDS that parents were told not to put their babies down on their stomach. One can find several instances where a baby is placed in its crib face down.

Expand full comment
Dawn B's avatar

Face down made more sense to me...the falling reflex was less, spit up won't chock your baby, and no risk of flat head...

They told me with my first, face down, then it changed. Meanwhile, my friends' babies had flat heads from lying on their back.

I had my first one in 1991 with a midwife and got the best care and took classes with her learning so much. In the end, my baby was breech, butt down, and we couldn't turn her, so I ended up with a C-section in a hospital. I had 2 more children but the laws do not permit a home birth after a C section and honestly I was afraid.

My first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage because of a horrible decision to get an IUD, when I was in college. I was half way through the pregnancy, when that device killed the baby.

I spent a day or so at the mercy of a hospital with that experience. One of my memories is of crying and a nurse basically telling me to shut up. This was in Austin, Texas in 1973, where they were pushing abortion bigly. I was unmarried at the time I got pregnant and the OBGYN I went to actually tried to talk me into aborting instead of getting married.

Having had those experiences, when I realized I was pregnant again a year later, I told my husband there was no way I was having the baby at a hospital.

I give God all the glory for making it just easy really to find a midwife, with about 40 years of experience and a doctor, who would do the necessary check ups to make it all legal.

We were living in the woods in the Florida Panhandle and when I look back, there was much less regulatory stress and pressure.

God similarly provided for wonderful birthing experiences for my next 3, which required getting another midwife (the first retired) and another doctor.

The last birth was 1982 and I know my experiences couldn’t be duplicated in today’s world.

But, then again…God can do anything.

I’m also a country girl (I will survive) with Native American heritage and was told by one of those doctors that my pelvic area was so wide ‘that a Mac truck could be driven through it.’ Ha ha. Yet, he and the other doctor I used later still showed courage in signing off for me to deliver naturally with a midwife.

I know some women have other size characteristics and issues and reason to need medical attention. And that’s fine. But the reactions I got from other women indicated that they were just too afraid to have their baby without all that medical intervention available.

Like you, I instead feared their interventions.

I went to planned parenthood of all places to get a prego test. While I was just trying to absorb the fact I was pregnant they kept asking me when I had my last period and I repeatedly said IDK and to let me think. Of course they let me know my choice about abortion but I just jumped up and left. My partner and I chose to marry as we were in love and have been married ever since. He was a good man then and even better now.

I was scared about the scar tissue rupturing if I had a home birth after a c section. I would go to a birthing center these days. They are around.

Soy-based psuedo-estrogens to make weak men. Both my boys were raised on breast milk, then goats milk and a buffalo meat based diet. The only rule at dinner time was you had to eat all your meat. Everything else was optional. No vaccines (homeschooled). Now healthy strapping men.

Tonight at a family party with my husband’s family, the topic of colonoscopies came up. I mentioned that I don’t intend to get any colonoscopies as my dad had a bad reaction. I was met with awkward silence and everyone sharing how many polyps they’ve has in the past. I wanted to ask how much the colon cancer deaths have dropped since colonoscopies be and a think but I just kept my mouth shut.

My wifes former hair dresser (she had to give it up during covid) would not vaccinate her children and they are healthier than my grand kids. She has to homeschool them as public schools require vaccinations. (55 of them by age 16!) I mentioned this to a customer who has 3 very young darling children and he replied that his children will go to a private Muslim school and don't have to be vaccinated. Yes, I actually wrote the song in 2008 right after I completed my certification course in Holistic Nutrition from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. I've been studying nutrition since 1981 and I continue digging into the false claims and outright lies propagated by Big Pharma and the Medical Industry who have captured the doctors who likely started out really wanting to help people but got caught up in the "business" of it all.

I became anti-vax in 1984 when I saw a good friend's baby girl, previously perfectly healthy, get her DPT shot, almost instantly start having multiple daily seizures, and who ended up 100% disabled and with a destroyed brain. It was horrifying to witness, and my views on vaccines were forever altered. This child is now 40, has lived her life thus far in a wheelchair unable to walk, talk, or feed herself. She was ruined by that shot.

Oh gosh😭. One of my motivations when I decided not to vax my youngest was a tetanus booster in 2001. I went in to talk to a Dr. about depression and anxiety and wasn't really paying attention to Dr. comments about me probably needing a booster and then allowed it because I was dumb then and an idiot for being depressed anyway. So I got so sick , couldn't hold my head up for days and neuropathy in my legs. Called Dr., didn't care,,,feeling bad after booster "normal". I thought I would die.

Totally creepy---in ~ 1970, the move toward breast-feeding was only getting started--among college educated females (I and my brothers were nursed by my mother, 1943-55--she was an outlier). By the time I was having babies, 1978-87, nursing was normal, and bottles were abnormal--at least, in my awareness. To move only 30 years later and put vaccination value ahead of breast milk value is just too weird. My two married daughters have only-nursed their babies, born 2010-2017.

The vax study broke my heart. My oldest had severe reactions at every round and the docs would just tell me to give him Tylenol etc before he came in. My now 20-year old banged his head for almost an entire year starting at 16 months, was diagnosed with failure to thrive at three years old, then sensory processing disorder then autism at 12. We are finally working with a functional MD who is helping restore his gut, but this was his entire childhood. It’s heartbreaking.
