We have been self treating most common ailments and ignoring medical recommendation tests for 30+ years. If you’re worried about getting old, remember many aren’t afforded the privilege.
My 1st child and her cousin are days apart in age. When they were infants, I used natural remedies when my child got what was probably RSV while they rushed their little one to the E.R. for no worse symptoms and spent a miserable traumatic night there. I was really struck then by what a different philosophy it was because I was new to natural approaches and I saw how much gentler it was for a baby and how empowering it was for parents.
Don't forget about herbal remedies! Before there were pharmaceuticals, healers used herbs, because they work! My husband's chronic lyme is successfully managed with homemade herbal tinctures. Stephen Buhner's books are a great place to start.

I know. At age 60 I went to have a small elective surgery. The staff at the hospital couldn't believe I wasn't on any meds, had no replacements of any kind and was in excellent health. I felt like a unicorn 🦄. Like you have heard of them but never thought you would see one. I left there pretty pleased with myself. 😄
At 62, I am on nothing as well...BUT had to have a hip replacement at 60, genetics and my line of work. Anyway, I’m on a mission to restructure my diet...not the best 🤦🏻♀️ but I’m making it a priority.
I call it divine intervention when I heard two things on the same talk radio show back in the mid 80s.

Words to live by. Label reader from that day on. Recommended. If you can’t pronounce it or don’t know what it is, do you want it in your body? If after investigation you’re good with the ingredient list, go for it.

Another “rule”: Don’t go to the grocery store hungry. Damn but even the chemical laden products, formerly known to give some kind of a satisfaction hit to the brain look good then.

Anyway, senior life med free and only natural supplement supported is delightful! Let me offer an ‘Atta girl! on your efforts. You can do it! 💪🖖👍
I have always exercised daily (since I was in my 20s because my father had a major heart attack at 45, eaten at home, cooked whole food meals, eaten tons of fruits and veggies and olive oil, pray daily, keep my weight down because of very high familialhypercholesterolimia)..but sometimes you are damned if you do, damned if you don't.
I now have, at 65, osteoporosis..doctor said thinner women get it more. I think of all the years I avoided too much meat, eggs and too much dairy *because of my high cholesterol*and also keeping thin because ofbmy health, and now paying the price a bit. I am not taking deplorable pharmaceuticals for bone! They have horrible side effects. Have looked into natural help..algae calcium with k and d3 and boron, collagen peptides and believe it or not: prunes! (research it)
I also upped my cheese which I enjoy. Crossing my fingers.
Please don’t label yourself with osteoporosis like I did at your age. Osteoporosis is a WHO-created disorder with definitions and limits literally made up by self-serving special interests. These people all benefited from the new big pharma meds and bone density measurement machines. Doctors, hospitals, advertisers and many others also benefit from the new racket in scaring older women about broken bones. Basically, they’re comparing your bones at age 65 with those of a woman aged 30, finding them deficient, and now you get a scary label and so you’ll want to do anything the doctor has planned for you! Guess what - my skin at age 71 is not as tight as a 30-year-old woman. Should I now be diagnosed with “dermatolosis” or something scary-sounding so I buy their drugs? Back at age 56 I still trusted doctors and “the science”, so I took their drugs and all they did for me is I ended up with psoriasis and my hair falling by the handful, especially with Prolia. I quit all that and instead went out walking, lifted weights, took sun and vitamin D3, never drank sodas, and ate real food, staying away from processed junk. My doctor never recommended any of that! But I’m healthier now and I’ll never take another bone scam - excuse me, I mean bone scan.
Thank you. I rejected dexa scans for 10 years now, but a stress fracture in my foot and a sunbsequent frail feeling in my feet scared me into taking it. Atleast it has woken me up to supplemting properly and eating more calcium and protein. Again, thank you for your post. *hugs*
Hey - I am female and 61 and not on any meds - I have lost weight recently doing intermittent fasting and Mediterranean dieting. I was wondering if you could give me some advice on
1. Several of my friends are getting meds to balance hormones - is this safe?
2. I have a torn meniscus- have torn it before - is there anything besides surgery to fix that? I have a gym regimen with weights I do three times a week and yoga twice a week and pickle ball twice a week.
I would stretch more. I have really toned down my exercises. Strolls or quiet walks now instead of power walking. Cleaning my house instead of weights and intense exercises. Healthier eating and more happy times. More emphasis on faith.
I took my son to the dentist last year and one part of the intake form asked if he had been on any “ fosamax” type drugs. These were the rage in the ‘80’s and my mom took fosamax for osteoporosis. At some point they found out that it was necrotizing to jaw bones. It takes years for side effects to come out.
Just read about the 1994 rolling out of the dexascan machine that measures your bone density. It seems everyone’s scan is compared to the scan of a 35 year-old woman. Also that the interior of our bones are supposed to be spongy and not filled in and solid which is what the fosamax type meds do. It fills them in and makes them brittle and that is why the dentist needs to know if you are taking them. Also why some women experience a break in their femurs while just walking. Can’t pull up the site just now. Also I’ve read that Jarlsburg Swiss Cheese is excellent for our bones.
Good facebook group: Osteoporosis Natural Remedies. They recommend a different type of test besides the DEXA - it is called REMS Echo Light. Only available in a few areas of the U.S. (and some other countries). Also, you need to use the exact same machine for a re-check as the machines are not always calibrated to one another so the followup scans from a different machine are pretty meaningless.
This is a great recommendation to pursue an Echolight scan. I had my first DEXA scan 1/21 at age 65. It showed slight Osteoporosis & Osteopenia. I am a retired Dental Hygienist, so am very familiar with the “con” side of Fosomax, often asking patients to reconsider and further discuss their Physician’s recommendation to take this RX.
My Physician was telling me, “it would probably be a good idea to start taking Fosomax. I did more research & the DEXA scan only measures bone density, not the strength of the bone.
My Echolight scan (which does not expose you towards any radiation like the DEXA scan does), showed only slight Osteopenia and indicated a vey low risk of hip fracture. It evaluates your bone density & strength. DEXA scans are still the “gold standard” but reconsideration for utilizing the Echolight technology and results are starting to gain acceptance. There are many Rheumatologists who specialize in Arthritis & Osteoporosis using Echolight scans to evaluate bone fragility. I traveled to Braxos, TX to have my Echolight Scan. I believe this is as far West as you are able to schedule a scan. There are Drs in the East who provide this service! Research before jumping!
Wow - fascinating! Being a Dental Hygienist you would have known right away about the downside of the Fosomax! Loved your personal story of your Echolight scan. We have someone locally who does these so I'm tempted to pursue it.
Thanks. I somewhat suspected this. I stopped taking rock calcium and found algae calcium. I told my cardiologists why, since there had been talk about it being bad for the arteries in the media a few years back. He sarcastically said that if that the case, the media would scream about it.
Cheryl, same here except that my health regimen failed in regard to my knees. I tried everything and finally succumbed to surgery on both. I hated it, but I don’t regret it because I can walk without pain now. At the hospital they treated me like I was some weird anomaly, not on any medication except thyroid. The only thing I’d add to your list of vitamins, exercise and prayer, is diet. The kind of diet recommended by the medical establishment is awful. Their views on red meat and fats in particular. High quality grass fed meat is an important source of so many nutrients, and the same with “good fats”, with sugars being the main culprit.
I love when they say you don't need supplements. You get everything from your diet. Then they write out some prescriptions for meds you need to take. 🤪
Yes, and most of us have figured out the dirty little secret, which is that they don’t make any $$ or kickbacks from the supplements like they do on the meds.
Knee problems seem endemic these days. I know so many people in their 60’s and 70’s who have had to get knee replacements. Some are related to old sports injuries or accidents. But many are not. I wonder why so many are having problems. And is it this way in other countries? I think not.
Could it be the American extremism for exercise? Jogging? It is terrible for the anatomy and for women even more- bad for the pelvic floor.
I lived in Europe. They are not fanatics like us. They walk in their daily routine..everywhere they can, in their regular clothing and shoes. In some countries and cities, men bicycle to work dressed up! I love how adorable that looked! ❤️
I desperately need new knees, but have lymphedema and am concerned. I know a few who have had a really rough go after replacement, but I am so tired of the pain! Getting anywhere near a scalpel is just terrifying as I have had six abdominal surgeries requiring two wound vacs all due to doc errors!
I had to have both knees replaced due to congenital sublux knee caps, one 15 yrs ago, the other 11 yrs ago. Ran 12 miles a day for years. Worked out. Stayed semi-healthy despite the pain. My knees were bone on bone for too long. My first surgeon came to my hospital room after surgery to tell me how stunned he was that I withstood such a pain level... I have zero regrets! I hear so many folks talking about enduring the pain... It is not worth it! I was up and walking 6 hours after both surgeries! Great rehab PT. I was teaching Sunday school at 2 weeks post op, on my feet! No crutches, no walker, no cane. It's amazing!
Good point. Hmm. My guess is diet and activity. I didn't know of any one growing up with knee replacements etc. Not saying they didn't have aches or pains. But those were elderly people 80s on up. Now people in their 50s are getting knees replaced.
I attribute my bad knees to heredity, my mother had terrible arthritis and had to have hers replaced. I’ve maintained a normal weight and eaten way healthier than average for most of my adult life. I always walked for exercise, so no extremes there as the cause.
This is an Amish farmer in Live oak Florida that delivers all over central Florida, I believe down to Tampa and Orlando!
In Belleview area near I-75 exit 341 you can find O’Steen’s produce market where they sell local raw A2/A2 cow and raw goat milk too I hope you all can get some! It’s great stuff!
The typical protein in American dairy is A1. But ancestral dairy cows such as Jersey and Gurnsey produce A2 casein which is better tolerated by most. Goat’s milk, sheep milk, camel milk, even human milk is A2 casein.
But A1 is cheaper to produce and unfortunately what is most widely used in America.
You can get raw milk (for “pet” consumption) in FL.
It's a huge scam. And the biggest part of it is the pharmaceutical industry.
They've got almost an entire population inured to regular "checkups" (read: profit boosters) so that they can see if there are any more Rx's they can add to your already long list.
Totally agree. In the movie, “Mystery Men”, the most popular super hero, Captain Amazing, played by Greg Kinnear, got all sorts of endorsements by sponsoring companies and wore patches on his costume advertising the companies. Doctors should be upfront with their sponsors.
I need someone else to determine whether or not I’m well?

Heterodoxy has me thinkin crazy things. Like, when my number’s up, its up. Time to go. Having family members exit in their infancy, 20s and 50s will do that for ya. It’s a short trip even if you break 100. I mean, if we’re talking about eternity...
The students who went to medical school got straight A's. You don't get straight A's by questioning things; you get straight A's by being good at following directions. When the pharmaceutical industry tries to influence their protocols, the doctors go right along with it.
Most MD's of the last 30+ yrs! Not all, most though. Medical School is now extremely inclusive. Grades and course requirements have been drastically lowered for minority students of most colors. Learning is rarely from books, it's now what's on the internet... (acceptable govt/ big pHARMa information), err... I mean, indoctrination. They don't learn the complexity of the individual body. It's all about the "average" person... Forget lab values for male and female, it's all one and done garbage... If you ain't woke when you start medical school they'll break you down trying. And I say all of this very humbly... two physicians from this home. One age 70. The other age 34. Huge difference. "We were taught the unique individuality of each patient. The younger docs claim they "know so much more..." They couldn't find their way out of a paper sack if their life depended on it! And forget complex medical problems... it's all about rushing through, while missing the elephant in the room. They're all max vaxed and practicing medicine via the govt controlled narrative that requires no brain power, just an ability to do what they're told via their ipads." It's a train wreck barreling down the tracks...
Fortunately, my husband is also disillusioned, though not to the extent that I am. It's hard to think that so much of what you've learned and espoused in your practice of 35 years has been a lie. Nothing but the pandemic and the "vaccine" disaster could have done that.
There is a great book that came out a couple of months ago called, The Deep State Encyclopedia, by "reallygraceful". In it, there is a great explanation of how the medical field became the medical industrial complex through the Rockefeller family. They basically changed the model to a for-profit model and they quickly changed everything, beginning with medical school education. This began in the late 30's. Up until that time, traditional healing therapies such as homeopathy, herbs and non-invasive measures were the norm for doctors. Bottom line: the medical industry doesn't make money on healthy, healed people. It is set up to keep customers ---for life.
Joh Rockefeller’s father was literally a SNAKE OIL SALESMAN! From history.com:
“His father was a con artist and a bigamist.
The tycoon’s father, William Avery Rockefeller, was a traveling snake-oil salesman who posed as a deaf-mute peddler and hawked miracle drugs and herbal remedies. The smooth-talking huckster dubbed “Devil Bill” alternately fathered children—including the future industrialist—with his wife and mistress, the couple’s live-in housekeeper. The itinerant William Rockefeller also lived a double life posing as an eye-and-ear specialist named Dr. William Levingston, and in 1855 he secretly married another woman”
Yes. It’s also an interesting read to learn about the vilification of cannabis - which was used successfully as medicine until 3 money-making perps - Rockefeller, Anslinger, Hearst turned the public away with their lies and a new racist term for it called “marijuana” and the making of the movie “Reefer Madness.” Such a helpful, God-given herb (when used properly) kicked out of the way so that pharma could profit. Most of us are still brainwashed against it now.
Doctor-prescribed pharmaceuticals kill hundreds of thousands of people yearly, yet no one bats an eye. You would have to consume 1500 pounds of cannabis in one sitting for it to kill you, and it probably still wouldn’t. The biggest side effects: giggling and a sense of calm.
What cbd do you recommend? I have been having facial spasms and they tempt me to jump out a window to make them stop. I am wondering if cbd could help, I just don't know what kind.
I’m in Canada where it’s legal - but CBD has no THC in it, or a very small amount, so maybe it’s legal in the US? There are dispensaries here and the staff know what to recommend for different things. We can also go through our doctor and then you get in touch with a specialist there who advises on the type of CBD, dosage, etc. That way, you can claim as medicine on income tax too. Maybe you can ask your doctor. Most should be educated by now but some aren’t. The 1:1 ratios of CBD:THC might make you tired so the higher the CBD, (no THC) the better. If you find a place, ask them questions and they should be able to help.
As a child of the 60s I got a tail end taste of true diagnostician doctors. Those who could try to heal without all our fancy tests. My grandparents doctor who was their age, so he probably studied in the 20s or 30s..no overhead-' his wife was the receptionist and nurse. His office was in his house. I was about 11 and had what seemed to be a bladder infection. He asked if I drank a lot of orange juice. I responded yes, wondering how he knew. He said to stop it and it would go away. Sure enough...
I am 62 and mostly retired 25 years as a holistic health and movement therapist. I may end up reviving my practice if we can get a parallel society/existence established. We currently have an historic b & b and event site in NE Georgia that doubles as a farm. I grow everything I can. God has blessed us with a regenerative farmer that rotationally grazes 6 species of animals on our pastures, all surrounded by Appalacian mountains. It is almost surreal, given the chaos of the world around us.
And there’s Dr Mercola being so censored and maligned! He was right all along! I do believe there will be many docs who will question the Rockefeller AMA and pharma. I hope those who question go back and learn natural medicine! Frequency and herbs are the future! We are a unique system, not a bunch of specialities!
I changed toothpaste from commercial fluoride ones to natural non fluoride. Teeth are so clean and lots less tarter build up. Also natural colloidal mouthwash and "chewing oil" a natural oil mixture, once a week, all helps. Gums. Teeth. Everything is better. 👍
Swishing coconut oil for a few minutes (and spitting it out into the trash after so it doesn’t clog the pipes) has been very helpful for me. It removes stains and has an antibacterial effect so keeps gums healthy.
Definitely me as well. I'd say I'm also almost completely anti-medical establishment at this point. I've had reasons to doubt before the last 3 years, but COVID was the timber that broke the camel's back.

Yes, I agree. Great series (on Hulu for those wondering).
Watched it but very sad and was hard to watch sometimes.

I'm not sure if it was you, but I bought both of his books based off of a comment on the substack.
It was probably me. 😉 I always plug his books when I get a chance, they opened up a whole new world for me.
The only problem is I don't get all the medical jargon. Other than that, I like what I've read.
It infuriates me that Lymes Disease should be studied like HIV was, and that so many get sick from it just by being outdoors! If it were woke or sexual there would be some kind of cure by now. I find it much scarier than covid. 🙄

I believe it. It is so sad that kids today cant play carefree in the grass like my generation did...Barefoot, shorts,..carefree summer fun.
It is sad for everyone and even worse is the fact that many doctors still deny that such lingering and devastating symptoms can be the result of a tick bite. Well, I bet whatever "they" come up with would be quite hazardous to humans and other ecological life. Seems to be the pattern. Unfortunately.
That is my plan. I'm planting and learning herbs starting this year.
Richo Cech is a great resource for growing and using herbs for healing. He has written several books and sells seeds and plants. Strictly Medicinal Seeds is his company. It’s out of Oregon.
That's where I've bought a lot of my seeds.

Sugar is poison.

It’s expensive to stay healthy. But it’s a hell of a lot more expensive to get sick.

*hugs*
Great start. Add a good quality yogurt too. Get it from local sources. Farm to table. Support local. I take supplements as well.
https://www.solgar.com/products/calcium-magnesium-plus-zinc-tablets/ and a vitamin D3 and vitamin k as well. Everyone is different based on their needs and diet. 😀
My new calcium is sourced from algae instead of rock and contains d3 and k and boron. Hoping it helps.
3. Supplement recommendations?
Fosamex and friends (other bone building meds) sound utterly horrible and sinister. Ofcourse my doctor wants me to take them. No way Jose!
This article is worth reading (and reassuring) . It may make you feel better.
The Manufacturing of Bone Diseases: The Story of Osteoporosis and Osteopenia
https://www.theepochtimes.com/health/the-manufacturing-of-bone-diseases-the-story-of-osteoporosis-and-osteopenia_5151392.html
Ladies please don’t discount sources of calcium, magnesium and vitamin k in raw A2 dairy. You can get raw A2 cow’s milk here in central Florida.
In Polish women, higher dairy consumption during childhood and adolescence predicted better bone health as adults.

Yes too A2 dairy. A1 is like gluten.
Would love to know where I could get raw milk in FL!
https://fullcirclerealfoods.com/
This is an Amish farmer in Live oak Florida that delivers all over central Florida, I believe down to Tampa and Orlando!
In Belleview area near I-75 exit 341 you can find O’Steen’s produce market where they sell local raw A2/A2 cow and raw goat milk too I hope you all can get some! It’s great stuff!
Thank you. I will definitely get in touch with them.
If FL is like my state, raw milk is not "allowed" to be sold to humans. But, you can find it being sold "for pets" - if you get my drift.
What is A2 dairy? I drink raw milk--in Michigan you have to own shares in a dairy cow--but I've never heard anyone refer to it like that.
Thanks for explaining that. I guess I must consume A2 because the raw milk I get is from Jersey and Guernsey cows. And it's delicious!
I've become very..very.. skeptical of the entire Medical Industrial Complex.
It's a huge scam. And the biggest part of it is the pharmaceutical industry.
They've got almost an entire population inured to regular "checkups" (read: profit boosters) so that they can see if there are any more Rx's they can add to your already long list.
Pharma exec's boats don't buy themselves.
FOLLOW THE MONEY! Docs should have to wear patches in their coats of which pharma companies are paying them $$$ to push their drugs.
Just like the race car drivers.
Totally agree. In the movie, “Mystery Men”, the most popular super hero, Captain Amazing, played by Greg Kinnear, got all sorts of endorsements by sponsoring companies and wore patches on his costume advertising the companies. Doctors should be upfront with their sponsors.
"Wellness checks" - come in so we can FIND something wrong with you! 😡
Think of the use of language, too.
- - -
I need someone else to determine whether or not I’m well?

Heterodoxy has me thinkin crazy things. Like, when my number’s up, its up. Time to go. Having family members exit in their infancy, 20s and 50s will do that for ya. It’s a short trip even if you break 100. I mean, if we’re talking about eternity...
I prefer to think of "Wellness checks" this way: "You come to your Pharma Sales Office for no reason whatsover, and WE get a check!"
That keeps our boat payment in the pink, so to speak.
Quite true. What a scam.
I have to say I agree, and I'm married to a doctor!
I'm right there with you, Natalie, and I'm married to a nurse.
My doggies love their hemp cbd chews. No chemicals etc in it. It has done wonders for their overall health.
What cbd do you recommend? I have been having facial spasms and they tempt me to jump out a window to make them stop. I am wondering if cbd could help, I just don't know what kind.
You might look into earthing/grounding.
Thank you!
I am not sure for people. I only have used it with my doggies.
We are also in N GA and would totally be a patient. We are also growing our own food as much as possible.
Love Reallygraceful! She makes so many connections that I would never have picked up on. She does great work.
True dat!
My best friend is a doctor. He knows the rot. And is fully on board with trying our own herbs and creating our own tinctures.
Bless the ones with critical thinking skills. Thank your friend for me. I know I know, random internet stranger. Still... 🙏
I'll let him know. :)
Lol!
Avoid all msm medical, dental, veterinary and other health services if at all possible. You will live longer and be happier.
Find a biological dentist!
Oh, I have to have my teeth cleaned every six months without fail!
