I agree with you, Jeff, that we should not be sending any money overseas but instead fixing the problems of our citizens and in our country. Honestly, I am so sick and tired of our governemt stealing or wasting our tax money. Our government collects trillions (that's 12 zeros - $1,000,000,000,000+) in taxes every year. Just think about how generous Americans would be in helping victims of these natural disasters if we weren't paying so much in taxes!

How does a president ā€œapproveā€ spending billions without congress? Do they have a presidential foreign aid cookie jar baked into the budget… I need to look into it more but this seems unconstitutional.

It doesn't appear that anything they are doing now days has anything to do with the Constitution. The Executive Branch, aka the deep state, has usurped all legislative and budgetary functions of the Gov't. Congress is just a rubber stamp for PR purposes to keep the voters fooled. Quite literally, the DoD and the NeoCons own the entire Gov't. We are in the hands of madmen and these madmen are at war with the American people... and they are attacking us on every front without actually pointing a gun at us... yet.

My biggest concern in terms of self-defense is being able to defend me and my family from the increasingly organized, random violence from the 30 million illegal invaders, a vast number of which are single, military age men without families. Has anyone ever read "Lord of the Flies" by Golding?

I read it about 20 years ago. What part of that do you see as applicable to these times? Not arguing - just asking for your perspective.

I must have read Lord of the Flies over 50 years ago but it was so disturbing, it really stuck in my mind. From my hazy memory, what it does is illustrate, in a microcosm, the mentality that takes over a society when there is a total breakdown of law and familial structure. All law and government is based on familial structure and this is why Marxists and Satanists try to destroy the family first. When I consider the tens of millions of single, military age men without families who have invaded our country with cultural attitudes that hate Christianity, I see Lord of the Flies. The best word to describe my reaction is "Chilling".

And it is not just Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan either. We send so much money to so many countries all around the world! I wouldn’t mind so much if it were only in cases of natural disasters, but it’s ongoing and I’m sure most of that money is siphoned off by corrupt people along the way and doesn’t really do much to help anyone in the countries it’s sent to šŸ˜•

Expand full comment
Politico Phil's avatar

In as much as the Deep State will simply "print up" trillions of dollars to fund anything they want, it appears that the whole purpose of "taxation" is to keep Americans progressively impoverished. But as Shayne implies, there are limits built into the universe. At some point, the USG Empire will reach the same wall of financial insolvency that the USSR reached and when they do, the whole system will collapse taking us all with it. This process has already started. When the rest of the world will no longer buy American debt and withdraws from the "dollar reserve " system, as the BRICS have, then at that point the USG empire will collapse. The whole debt pyramid will implode.

I read you line of comment here today, and I cannot disagree with it ... not in the least part.

The collapse of the last embers of the American Republics ended with The Counterfeit Money Act of 1913 (Federal Reserve) because counterfeit begets more counterfeit and in ever more expanding spheres of 'funding'. That is, until the 'money' runs out ... that is, is discredited ... and nobody no longer wants it (think world-wide dumping of treasuries).

The old constitutions have been long ago discarded by daily habit except for the necessary lip service which must be paid in order to keep the counterfeit illusion of government semi-alive. Instead, we now are 'governed' by a murderous, looting mafia of competing warlords. The unholy spectacle is both revolting and pathetic. And they will liquidate anything in 'their' path.

Expand full comment
Politico Phil's avatar

You described that in the most starkly and clear terms possible... Exactly. When no one will buy a Treasury, then the game is over and the oligarchs skip town with their loot. In the meantime they will 'liquidate' anyone to keep the game going.

Expand full comment
daverkb's avatar

Well, sovereign entities are already downsizing US Treasury obligations on their balance sheets and buying gold with the proceeds. And the Bank Cartel sees this. And we are hearing that the Fed is now not only the lender of last resort, but also the buyer of last resort. And what is the Fed bank buying? I hear it is general equites which are, after all, somewhat 'tangible' ... even if not as tangible as gold, silver, oil and other basic commodities. And so, the Cartel and Friends will always skip town in some tangible way while leaving the dummies (and even the smart unfortunates) hold the debt bag, and the brunt of the fallout thereof.

I heard an interesting tidbit. I heard that BRICS Plus did a trial run on the Unit involving a UAE transaction. And I heard that BRICS cleared the Unit transaction through the BIS at which point my ears fell off ... and I am still looking for them. If so, this is significant (but how I cannot precisely say). But it would seem to imply that the real architecture of the new world monetary clearing system would be multipolar ... including the dollar as one of two, possibly three major 'reserve' currencies (units of account). This would also have major implications on any dollar reset. And as a real wild speculation, this might also suggest that the next Selection Candidate is indeed Trump as the bankers may well realize that for the sake of stability, a monetary reset requires someone smarter and more sober and schooled than the Camel. Nonetheless, and moreover ... put this thought against Powell most recent odd remark that it is 'possible to have more than one reserve currency' (bearing in mind that Fed chairs don't talk like this just for the fun of it!)

Also, more than one world reserve currency adds a pretext to ending wild US/Fed money printing. That is, the necessity to compete by implement sound fical/monetary policy. And then add in the multi-generational narrative roll back going on ... and maybe pieces are beginning to line up. ???

(P.S. I am still look for my ears. They must be somewhere. Maybe in my room? However, if I don't find them, no big deal. Because DeWife says I am blind and I figure that I might as well add in deaf.)

Then I saw this...................................

63 central banks are implementing Basel III which includes the widespread practice of ā€œbail-insā€ to rescue failing banks

Yesterday, the Bank for International Settlements announced that its member jurisdictions have made significant progress in implementing the final elements of Basel III.

Basel III includes wide acceptance of bail-in as a way of rescuing failing banks. Unlike a bailout, which involves external assistance (often from taxpayers), a bail-in restructures the bank’s liabilities internally which includes taking the money you have on deposit and in savings accounts, as these form part of the bank’s liabilities, and converting them from cash you can use into something else, e.g. shares in the bank.

In other words, it is a bailout by the taxpayers but without the government as the middleman. As a depositor or saver, the bail-in conditions will not be negotiated with you...

Here's a question for you. Which will rise or drop faster on balance in relationship to one another in a net balance determination, gold or bailout extractions? And factoring in real purchasing power?

I.e., if gold goes down in USD terms, but the price of goods and services drops faster, are you richer or poorer?

What one does depends upon the size of one's portfolio because as the size of a portfolio alters the scaling of one's thinking. That is, someone with hundred of thousands and millions to plunk down does not think like someone with only a thousands or tens of thousands 'under self-management', so to speak..

I always tell people to start out with physically held silver and gold. First buy US 90% coin silver (1964 and before, and also called 'junk silver') starting with dimes and quarters because dimes and quarters are spendable in small units. I have bought larger denomiated size when the price is attractive. For this reason I have also bought real copper US pennies, mostly 'wheat' pennies. After one has enough of that, then gold is fine. I have bought tenth, quarter and half ounce gold coins because this is more spendable if I ever wanted to use gold to buy something. Most of my gold purchases, however, are in one ounces coins (mostly US Gold Eagles, Canadian Maples Leaves and Krugerrands) because of lower premiums over spot. After that I buy gold and silver stocks (majors and royality streamers). After that I buy production domestic oil companies mid-tier with a solid history of dividend payouts, and I buy these only when oil stocks are dirt cheap and nobody wants them.

That's what I do. Maybe some day I may by general equities, but only when they are dirt cheap, with low debt loads and a history of good dividend payout. Again that what I do is what I do, and in no way is what I do to be construed as investment advice.

My guess is that we are at a point once again similar to that of 2001 with gold and silver finally ready to rocket launch. And I like the shiny stuff because that is what the big boys/central banks have been stack now ever since the 2008/2009 bust which was never fixed, only papered over.

I also buy and stock food stuffs (prepper type long storage) and hope that I never have to eat that crap.

It is very difficult to figure this all out since the Central Banker 'insiders' never telegraph in great detail. They just drop hints. And they are want to largely speak in two principle languages ... Word Saladese and Gibberish. Powell's 'there could be more than one world reserver' looks to me to be a bomb shell.

The second 'big statement' Powell has made has to do with spending. That is, Powell has clearly indicated that the US deficit spending in the trillions is 'unsustainable'.

The third Western Banker Cartel problem is that the Woke Political Class has taken over 'the company store' and the bankers want it back (control).

I submit that these three problems are interconnected. And that perhaps being 'the world's single reserve unit of account' is also 'unsustainable'. Add these elements to what appears to be an ongoing Multi-Generational Super-Narrative shift (Musk, Milei, Tucker Carlson and others promoting it), and something big is going on.

My daughter is in Morganton, we are in Oxford, we drove 3 1/2 hours there with our smaller generator and 2 chainsaws, their driveway had a tree in it, we helped them clear that, we went across the street as they couldn't get out whatsoever with the power lines and trees down, we cleared most of the trees in their driveway, made a hole big enough for their car to get out and then went next door from my daughter's place, took the limbs that had crushed the top back corner of their van, thankfully no windows were crushed, and got that free and was working on the tree when both our chainsaws busted and that was the end of the day. They had no water, they do on boil to use now, still no internet or power. Will find out in about a week when their crawlspace basement is dry enough to see if their water heater still works or if they will have to get a new one. The washer and dryer were put up on cinder blocks and the water still got to them, hopefully they will still work. My other daughter in TN will have to fly to see us this coming weekend now as hwy 40 is in the ravine in the pass between NC and TN, and hwy 26 through Ashville is closed down, the only other way around is up through VA and come down. It is simply mind boggling to me that we are funding all these overseas wars (killing people and lining politicians pockets) while our own people so need help (we're essentially killing people here by not providing rapid, massive aid). This is what I did too, so our ā€œ2ā€ signature is on the Go Fund Me, but the bulk of my giving will go the buying supplies off the Cajun Navy’s Amazon wishlist on their website. They’re also already on the ground.

Also, JAARS (missionary aviation organization based in NC) is flying rescue missions currently and linked on their Facebook page if any one wants to make donations for aviation fuel.

Per Jeff’s request, the Coffee&Covid army always gives donations that end in ā€œ2ā€, ($12, $32, $102) so that it is easy for us and others to see our collective impact, even if there isn’t another way to quantify or ā€œsignā€ on a donation site. If a site shows donation amounts, you can scroll through and see that while your $22 didn’t seem like much, a hundred or thousand $22s are encouraging and a reminder we are a team, a community and just not alone 😊

I completely agree with you. Watching lefties defend this sick administration right now is making me furious. They are claiming that FEMA was signed before the hurricane touched ground - so shut up, your money is coming. Are they just too dumb to realize FEMA won't cover a fraction of the $ needed? A couple of people told them that and they said "is it our fault you didn't buy flood insurance?" And that point I had to stop reading because I was so mad. Asheville is not in a flood zone at all, why would they buy it? I had to quit before I typed something like "I really hope it hits you next" because any American that is being nasty to other Americans right now who've lost everything really deserves the wrath next. There is just no excuse for how our gov't continues to send billions overseas and neglects Americans. I know why they do it, the favors and the skimming off the top for themselves. That doesn't make it any less infuriating.

In the midst of all the regional turmoil, the American Agency for International Development USAID, which belongs to the American government, announced yesterday a generous aid to the Palestinians. According to its official announcement, it will transfer $336 million to the Palestinians "as additional humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza and the West Bank affected by the ongoing conflict, which has forced more than 1.9 million Palestinians to be displaced from their homes and more than 2.1 million Palestinians to face acute food insecurity."
