Whether she was sincere or not who knows, but she was clearly wrong.

Even worse, most of what you have been told is meant to emotionally manipulate you to serve someone else's interests. Serve the Lord, your family, and your people. Anyone who says you must behave a certain way "for your own good" or "for the good of society" who isn't in your trusted circle is almost certainly lying.
