I did a project about 8 years ago that was frankly a little out of my wheelhouse. I mostly do research for private industry. But my client (who also mostly works in private industry) was hired to do a strategic plan for a State IT department, who wanted to use this plan as a tool to ask for a bigger budget. I looked at 5 states similar in population and dug into their IT departments and spending, interviewed folks, and read a number of industry studies and publications. It was frankly scary just how bad it was.

Pay scales don't come even close to what you can make in private industry. So you get what you pay for. Just like the adage 25% of doctors finished in the bottom quartile of their class. Oh you get some who like the job security and benefits, but you also get refugees who couldn't cut it in the for profit world.

Security measures, software updates, and new tech is hard to fund. Cobbled together code makes integration next to impossible, lots of islands.

This was 2015, maybe things are better now, but every time I provide personal information to a govt entity, I do wonder just how secure it is.

Expand full comment

Me too. Then there was the time the Red Cross was installing fire alarms, we only needed two. However as I wasn't there at the time. They installed an alarm in every room, five in a 1300 sq foot mobile home. Are they really listening devices? One of the many things I wonder about.

Expand full comment

Probably lazy Red Cross volunteers or paid staffers trying to finish their work as fast as possible. Fewer homes to enter, faster they can unload the endless alarms paid for by donors who do no audits.

Expand full comment

Wow, that is overkill. Seems nothing is what you think it is these days.

Probably the MORE alarms they install, the more they get financially.

I can assure you that it isn't better. I've gotten more notifications in the last 6 months about serious hacks into private industry than I've ever gotten, big hacks and that's private industry. I suspect the gov't keeps their hacks more secret...

Yeah my son is in manufacturing. 22 plants - got hit with ransomware and not paying the ransom. Rebuilding systems from the ground up on a plant by plant basis and they are now running production using paper schedules. His is one of the smaller plants so still waiting. Working a lot of hours and he is salary but lots of hourly workers getting OT. The productivity hit on these hacks is a whole lot more than spending the money on good security up front. But a lot of companies learn that the hard way.

Remind me again why the cloud is so much better?

Wow. My brother's bank account at Truist got hacked this week. Some fireman in NJ was using fire department equipment to hack into bank accounts. My brother is a nobody in po dunk nowhere NC. He literally has never used a computer (he's a farmer, country bumpkin type) and only ever uses his cell phone to call people, doesn't text, never been on the internet, etc. Fortunately, the guy didn't get any money. My brother has been asking them for years to disable internet access to all of his accounts. They finally did it this week. He told them the same thing about how protecting "online banking" from hackers is going to cost them a lot more money than just going back to paper.

I hate the cloud, want nothing to do with it. BTW, I work in high tech, leading edge stuff.

Expand full comment

Sorry to hear about your brother. My mom is the same way, not on the internet, but I handle all of her accounting stuff. We are in between a rock and a hard place though, as mail delivery has gone to h*ll in a handbasket the past few years too. I ended up setting up online access for some things just because she was not getting statements, tax documents, etc in the mail, or getting it weeks or even months late.

But that is comforting to know you hate the cloud. I am only as tech savvy as I need to be and I try to avoid any cloud based SW when I can. I have the perpetual license Office suite, not 365. Have several programs I use for work that are getting glitchy due to age but are now subscription based only, hard pass. Most of the time when I say I hate the cloud I just get the OK Boomer remark. And I am Gen X! Old before my time I guess. Get off my lawn, lol.

I agree with your assessment of the cloud for the most part. However, we live in a rule area and we have had mail stolen from our mailbox several times. So anything online has MFA sometimes Cisco dual whatever I can get to tighten it up.

I don’t know if you remember UCLA Medical Center getting hacked in the news because the security program they were using was 15 years old, and UCLA knew it was just a matter of time. Expand full comment

And we all know that Biden simply IS NOT running anything. Someone else, or groups of people, are making all the decisions. The occasional speech Biden gives is written by others and he is still somewhat able to read what others write. I'm really frustrated at how the media, even the conservative media, rattle on a and one about Biden's dementia but don't get more vocal about questioning who the real decision makers are. Biden really is a puppet. Harris too. They are merely placeholders. And the Dems get away with it because the situation is never really questioned. Biden should be forced into taking a mental cognition test to start with. Yet no one is apparently able to force even that. So on it goes.

My late father was a WW2 vet, and he spent 25 years in the military. He was a navigator and flyer most of his military career. Back in the early 1980s after he had retired he would often talk about his military "superiors" and how many of them were not all that bright but they knew how to play the games they had to play to get promoted. Once promoted to higher positions they did very little and were basically political players within the military system. My dad was disgusted enough with it all that he didn't even want a military funeral when he died. My dad had a genius level IQ, by the way, and he didn't seek any position in the upper echelons of the military hierarchy as he found it all so disgusting.

It seems a lot of people think God is cruel because bad things happen. This isn't the case. Bad things happen because God gives humans one of His greatest gifts; free will and the latitude to use it. This is one of our and His greatest joys because it allows us to serve Him faithfully without coercion.

Expand full comment

We wouldn't have man-written bibles if those who wrote them didn't have free will to write things to scare their fellow humans into doing what they wanted them to do.

You don't need the Bible to know that allowing someone to decide to freely associating with you is natural while coercing someone to interact with you is an abomination. One is true, the other is false. A world where no bad happens because God forces everyone to be good would be just as false.

Seneca was an important and very influential philosopher that lived at the same time as Jesus. I’ve read his letters and always wondered why didn’t Seneca ask about Jesus? Why didn’t they meet? All those miracles yet there’s no personal correspondence among people to be found. Why didn’t Jesus write anything? He had a family. Why don’t we know if any of his relatives are still alive? It seems like they would still have great status even today.

Expand full comment

To Seneca, Jesus would have been "just some itinerant preacher in Judea", if he'd even heard of him at all. Christianity didn't reach Rome until a decade or so after Jesus' death, and still then wasn't taken seriously by many Romans (what, you want us to worship only ONE god, and you say this god inhabited the body of some executed terrorist who got up and walked around again afterwards? Don't make me laugh!)

Personally, I think it's BECAUSE of the great status that would be attributed to relatives of Jesus, that God allowed such records to be lost. I mean, just look at the fuss made by the Roman church about the "Successor to Peter", and he's not even blood-related, to just one of twelve apostles (though arguably the spokesman).

God has always given man free will to decide to follow Him or rebel against Him. It’s the same “story” that has been repeated since the beginning of time. We are all sinners and need to repent and follow Jesus but only through His grace and our repentance, then accepting the atoning work of Jesus’ innocent death on the cross can we be right with God. Our world is broken and fallen through all the sin. Confess, repent and turn away from sin! Follow Jesus! He is coming again soon!

Expand full comment

"...God has always given man free will to decide to follow Him or rebel against Him..."

Just to correctly qualify this statement, salvation is solely of God's grace. We do not have free will to save ourselves. Our response to salvation is to follow Him of our own free will. You correctly imply this when you say, "and follow Jesus but only through His grace and our repentance..."

I don't see a demand in any of that.

Vonu, “you are not far from the kingdom of God” (Mark 12:34). Do you have an open mind and enough imagination to try a thought experiment? “Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).

Totally off topic, but it does fall under the realm of government interfering with our lives. I am starting a project documenting the skies over Columbus and the "contrails" in them. Perfectly clear skies at sunrise this morning, now less than an hour and a half later, the sun is already dimmed and the sky is covered. I intend to prove, through current and historic photos (meaning photos I've taken since the 80s) that something in the skies is happening. What will doing this obtain? Maybe nothing, but a picture is worth 1,000 words, and at the conclusion of this project, I'm going to start asking meteorologists to explain.

They are a checker board pattern across the sky which do not follow regular flight paths - no idea where all those planes come from! I was on the window side of a flight crossing Utah and a 737 was flying parallel to us and it had massive, thick, dark coloured stuff forming two solid lines that stayed in the sky..did not dissolve like vapour does. We should not have any rain now. Florida in winter time is normally weeks of sun, yet every week there are two days of rain forecast. In come the contrails. Expand full comment

Agree, nice to have them on board even if belatedly.

It is a bit unsettling that so many influential and powerful people couldn't see this stuff from the start and only realized it was a bad idea after problems started showing up. Anyone with a shred of common sense could tell that everyone pretending a man can turn into a woman wasn't going to end well. Better late than never though I guess.

I think those of us who have known old school transsexuals were slow or are still lost at sea with the trans issue not seeing that this is a completely completely different ball of wax. Old school transsexuals wanted to pass as opposite sex but did not believe they were the opposite sex, they paid for their own surgeries and made the decision as an adult after much deliberation. The new thing is grotesque medical and legal scandal opening doors for some truly terrifying concepts.

Exactly! You don’t know how much of the 40% falls into that 60% who vote! LOL

Did he really mean it that way? Almost has to be overlapping voters and non-voters. And if RFK takes advantage, major party candidates may take notice.

I agree with you. But let's say 40% of 60%, that'd be 24%. A big number, but then people vote on other things besides jabs. Thanks Amy--I hate to say it, and I hate to think it, but after almost 4 years of information, it seems unlikely to me that anyone can rise up in the ranks and gain the highest power in the land without the deep state on board. People need heroes--I get it. And many people have gotten angry at me and said, "if you're right, there's no hope!" I disagree but I see how devastating it would be for those to entertain the idea that Trump is part of the ruling class mafia. Again, I hate to say it, but all signs point that way.

It seems to be a matter of accepting how powerful the ruling class/bankster cartel is--how long they have been ruling the world and manipulating its citizens and how clever, strategic and well funded these people are.

It’s hard to make sense of it all though given all the grief they’ve given him and everything they’ve put him through. Is it all theater? Could be but it seems like a lot of trouble to go to and too many people involved to keep that quiet. It makes sense on some levels but doesn’t on others 😕

Expand full comment
Feb 1·edited Feb 1

If you think about each of the "griefs" it doesn't seem that far-fetched to me. J6 was an intelligence operation, and all of these lawsuits would be easy to set up--you don't need too many people involved--the process takes care of itself. Isn't curious how he is overcoming all of these accusations though and mostly all before the election (that's fast for the judicial process)? Insurrection (set up to be overcome), documents at Mar-a-Lago, GA election fraud (oh, the drama there that obliterates the charges!). Is it possible all he has to do is play along?

I hear you. But what bothers me is also what is NOT happening. Real candidates are not given any press or GOP/DNC support--those entities were long-ago captured. No press for them, banned from Youtube, or shadowed on Twitter, or absent on Google. And yet, Trump has gotten tons of media attention DAILY since 2015---even these past 4 years when he was no longer president. Why would the press keep that memory alive?! Why not occasionally mention him as mere history? Why did CNN host him? The NYT and Atlantic publish anti-trump articles DAILY. It takes an enormous effort to keep inundating readers with Trump.

I think if one assumes that the people in power do not have that level of control over the dissemination of information, and\or that there is an "organic" aspect to one's rise to fame/power, then it's easy to think he got here all on his own and his magnetism is the only reason he is the main object of media. He took a $250m loan from Soros (so did his son), he hobnobbed with the Clintons for years, he was a democrat. He was part of that club and then just changed his mind? We're so used to watching movies, we believe this schlock.

I go back and forth too. But that annoying little vaccine issue just keeps getting to me. He knows damn well how bad they are, he knows it was a DOD op from the start, he knows it was an American virus through NIH/NIAID/UNC pretending to be released in China---and still calls it the China virus. I just smell a rat!

Expand full comment

Trump was heavily influenced by Birx and Fauci, somewhat naively perhaps, but it was new frontier and I have to believe he was doing what he could. He needs to acknowledge the harm now, or he is complicit however. So much is now known. Some of us proclaimed from the start that you cannot know long-term effects without studying them in real-time, but 4 years later any logically thinking human should understand these shots cannot be mandatory ever again.

Expand full comment

Our naive president. He must have also overlooked that this was a DOD operation from the beginning, forgot that he signed more executive orders that obliterated rights, forgot that it was Fauci himself in charge of the gain of function research through the NIH, NIAID, UNC whose scientists worked for US in Wuhan and that this was 100% an "American" virus.

But yes, even that tired old excuse doesn't play anymore. You are right that he cannot NOT know what has transpired now 4 years later. And still touting the Pfizer line.

Expand full comment
Feb 2·edited Feb 2

That's the thing. I don't care if someone could convince me his political strategy is brilliant-- because in the meantime more children are being killed by these shots (all of the "vaccines" in my opinion--we've been lied to for over a century). My kids are fully vaxxed but after all I've read in the past 4 years, I have regrettably come to believe that all "vaccines" are killing/disease agents and that's what keeps the cartel in business.

If this were a poker game, Trump's vaccine stance would be his "tell."

If you are against vaccines, you are out. Dead, censored, etc. Vaccines are the only issue--too much riding on it.

RFK is playing his role illustrate that what I just said is not true. Nothing will come of him. It's an intricate game, well-strategized and funded for the long term.

Indeed, looks like military age men in that closed-door Chinese camp but here's another theory as Bret touched on. With China's One Child policy resulting in far too any men for the women available, add the current economic meltdown and an oppressive one party rule, those men might be mostly just economic and marriage opportunity migrants. Therefore, China's rulers HAPPY to make excess young males migrate as a social relief valve, and thrilled to drain their bank accounts in the process.

Migrants with cell phones and credit cards in a reckless Gold Rush willing to risk all liquidity and that of their family back home, too. Exactly like the 1849'ers from the USA and Europe, and many from China, too, who risked all to get to what the Chinese then called "Gold Mountain," San Francisco, the entrance to the California gold fields. After the gold rush in Australia, SF today in China is called "Old Gold Mountain."

This could all be shut down by demonetizing these migrants' and their family's payments to the criminals aiding their travel. Criminals because they all know not going through international border controls such as travel through the Darien Gap or paying someone to truck a suitcase across the US border while they go through a gap in the fence is criminal.

According to Yeonmi Park in her very good book "In Order to Live: A North Korean Girl's Journey to Freedom", one of the solutions to the lack of women in China is to buy North Korean brides, some willing, some not. Have no idea about the numbers and certainly can't imagine this would fulfill the need.

The IMF generally comes in and hollows out (even further) the middle class of countries.

Yes, IMF involvement is red flag here. Milei also turned down the invitation to join BRICS+. Looking more and more like he's a deep state/NWO asset. Not looking good for the Argentinian people.

Expand full comment

No doubt the IMF loan offer was connected to his refusal to join BRICS+ and his decision to use the USD for their currency. He had originally decided to join BRICS+ then flipped on that at the same time deciding to use the USD. That sounds like some sort of backroom deal was made?

Yes he’s Argentina’s Trump- who may also be a deep state/NWO asset who simply says all the right things and keeps the fight/distraction going.

Jeff’s take is ridiculous IMO. The IMF giving him billions shows us that the IMF has come around? The good guys always win? That’s ridiculous. What REALLY bothers me is that I think Jeff knows better. The implications of that are depressing.

Expand full comment

OTOH, as an economist and an anarcho-capitalist, Milei is well aware of the mechanizations of the NWO IMF. Given what he has done, I cannot say he is a NWO asset just based on the IMF loan. Milei is no dummy and he has demonstrated his commitment to his Ancap goals.

Why not! Do bankers every lend money without expecting 'a return on capital'? And I certainly cannot see it other than do Vonu and John Perkins.

Within the box factions matter. And factions do come in different flavors. Just like Chain Saw Milei ... the new flavor of the year and who known? Maybe for the rest of the century ... that is if it takes and sticks. But from the standpoint of the Invisible Hand directed by film production team of Apex Money, all the world is a stage. And the drama is marketing is sold as entertainment. And by the spectacle of entertainment, the masses are driven into oblivion uncomprehending. And that leads us straight back to the Confessions of an Economic Hit Man ... and a truly great and timeless read.

Expand full comment

To answer your question: No, bankers NEVER lend money without expecting a return and in the case of the apex banking cartel of BIS, IMF and Federal Reserve (all serving the interests of the Rothchilds, Vatican and British Crown), their expected return is much more than interest.

Still I will watch to see if this will play out the way it always does or if Milei actually will bite the hand that tries to feed him. Somewhere, someday, someone is going to do something different. A lot of "some's" there...

The Real Money Complex at the very, very top has to always be working to settle conflict. There must be a continual resolve and resolution to keep an operation going and morphing for centuries. I try not to confuse control agency with implementation agency (front running institutions). And no, I don't see it all.

The best I can say, as to the overall, it has not of recent been old business as usual ever since maybe DJT as beta testing beginning in 2016, and Twitter X as to roll out implementation of the Next Big Thing ongoing.

His neighbor chile required brutality to implement imf “reforms “ that merely lock in gains for oligarchs and squash people who actually work and support the economy . The imf terms are typically akin to the economy suppressing covid lockdowns implemented through monetary policy , Argentina is in for some pain.

Two possibilities to think about:

The IMF may be looking at Milei and Argentina and realizing they cannot stop the reform Milei has initiated, decide they need to "join in" with a small $4.7B loan to keep their fingers in the Argentinian pie. If they can leverage this small loan into bigger loans then at some point they will have once again made Argentina captive to their money system slavery. Debt is always a form of slavery. (Our entire American society is now based on debt courtesy of the non-"Federal" Reserve Bank.)

In a separate thought voiced by our own Daverkb, when you step back and look at the whole picture, it looks like the Apex rulers have decided to reign things back in order to save their monetary system from complete collapse. Building on Dave's thought, by giving Argentina a small loan, they may be signaling to the rest of the banking world that the focus is now going to be on restoring a bit of stability. They cannot risk imploding their banking system and bringing down all the international debt they use to enslave the people of the world.

As Jeff wrote: "In a statement, the International Monetary Fund’s chief Kristalina Georgieva, if that’s her real name, praised Javier Milei's "bold actions to restore macroeconomic stability and... address long-standing impediments to growth." ...it signals official approval of Milei’s anti-socialist reforms"... ALTHOUGH I wouldn't go so far as to say they now think socialism is unaffordable...only the insanity of the USG O'Biden spending regime. Remember, the NWO did not anticipate the rise of an opposing force in the BRICS and they now face a competing money system based on actual assets (credit) rather than debt.

Now if they can only arrange a nuclear exchange to eliminate the BRICS system, they could finish the consolidation of their control.

Things are complex and simple all at the same time. The simple part is that Sham Fantasy Money is broken, and really since 2008/2009 ... and the USD Standard is in a heap of trouble. Somehow, the Whole Mirage has to be repackaged and re-sold. The complicated part is that in an era of failing credibility, the do-over has to have a serious infusion of credible buy-in. For example, a new high power replacement of dot money will have to have a credible feature, maybe a partial backing by gold. But it will be an advertising marketing trick. It will be call the old thing by a new name, tie a string to it and string it over a commodity like gold, and call it New Money You Can Believe IN with partial backing. And a little like that other catchy marketing slogan from the Obama years ... Change. But rest assured, you won't be able to redeem dots for real money of substance held in you hand. But you will have one great benefit. The financial institutions will be able to terminate your access with the flip of a switch ... and you will feel safe and like it! And it is all good to have an emotional buzz! Right!

Honestly. I think it's the Old Fool'em Strategy, a remake of Babylon. The Fool'em part is making it believable. But scratch the surface and Milei is a socialist. And it is Dial Back Socialism. And the same as here in the United States with the dial-back Pivot against Woke.

Expand full comment

The secret to the "Dial Back" is they never dial all the way back to zero. And thus do they incrementally advance even when they appear in retreat and like compound interest, in 30 years they are rich.

Only with the actual historical destruction of the apex institutions and families AND their wealth who are behind this NWO will their plans ever be defeated. Until then, this war will continue. If Milei is not their puppet, then he prolly won't live long. We will see.

Expand full comment

Good point!

Zero on the dial in the American context would at the very least have to be dial back to the old American Christian States with theonomic organic constitutions. DJT would be a retograde dial back to FDR Socialism before America quite lost everything. And this is the irony, that DJT is what every Domocrat would have been mid-twentieth century.

I appreciate your insights and anaylsis and am a bit surprised by your take on Melei.

What our your thoughts on why Milei would have pulled out of the BRICS and do an about-turn on his commitment to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement as his first order of business.

As a self-avowed anarcho-capitalist, Milei is going defy all usual stereo-types. He probably doesn't want to align with any major international block. As for the Paris accord, I don't have enough information to comment on that. It should be interesting to see what he actually does in the future. Maybe he wants to go there as he did at Davos and give them a piece of his mind.

https://www.theburningplatform.com/2024/01/31/doug-casey-exposes-the-hidden-agenda-of-davos/#more-327726

International Man: Javier Milei—Argentina’s Anarcho-Capitalist President—went to Davos and appeared to ruffle some feathers.

When asked why he attended the WEF conference, he said: “To plant the ideas of freedom in a forum that is contaminated by the socialist Agenda 2030 that will only bring misery to the world.”

What do you make of Milei’s appearance at Davos?

Doug Casey: A lot of libertarians have been skeptical of Milei, since almost all politicians just say what they think the audience wants to hear. But I’ve been a believer since he identified as an AnCap, not just a conservative or somebody unhappy with certain aspects of the system. The fact that he openly identified as an anarcho-capitalist told me that he might indeed be the real deal.

The fact that he walked into the maw of the beast just after the Schwabenklaus identified libertarians as the problem (link) and gave a flawless speech calling out these people for who they are, took real moral courage. He’s not just talking the talk but walking the walk.

I urge everybody to both read and listen to his speech to see what I’m talking about (link). It’s by far the most important speech anyone has given so far this century. And it may mean Argentina will be the best place in the world to be for the years to come.

Sadly, no such luck. Not that I would have given up any information, of course. But I'm mildly insulted that they never even tried.

Time will show something is not right here. Remember, the IMF tends to use the loans to impose future financial hardships to service the interest of the loans, not to mention the principle. Now that we have “debt for conservation swaps” or “debt for climate swaps”, maybe this is a long-range move in that direction?

Basically, "key program targets were missed by large margins due to severe policy setbacks of the previous government."

The referenced program was a $44 million loan. The $4.7b is the potential available to Argentina based on what the IMF already sees from the new administration.

They don't have to take anything. They are still on the hook for the $44m.
